OTTSVILLE, Pa. -- Teresa Heinz Kerry once hinted at tensions with her first-born son, a 37-year-old blacksmith who seeks an anonymous life with his wife and child in rural Pennsylvania..........Heinz Kerry's eldest son lives with his physician wife, Kristann, on a wooded 163-acre farm near Philadelphia, refusing all inquiries about Kerry's campaign, the Heinz foundation, or his own work and ambitions.
He operates a small Buddhist high school for troubled teens nearby, and makes reproduction ironwork in a studio on his secluded property, land he has conserved so it can never be developed.
On a much larger scale, his mother has steered money to the environment, education, and local art and cultural groups as chairwoman of the Pittsburgh-based Heinz Endowments.
Heinz Kerry told the Washington Post in a 2002 profile that John started ''hating her" after his daughter, Astrid, her only grandchild, was born in 2000. She did not elaborate. But her son continues to serve with her on the board of one of the foundation's charities....

Go figure.
Thats the press for you. Real yellow journalism
He vants to be alone. I can't say that I blame him.
"Heinz Kerry told the Washington Post in a 2002 profile that John started ''hating her" after his daughter, Astrid, her only grandchild, was born in 2000. " There's definitely a story waiting to be told, here.
I sure didn't know her oldest son was 24 when Senator Heinz died. The picture previously drawn, was poor Teresa, left with 3 "boys", to raise all alone.
Someone made an interesting comment on another thread several days ago. Isn't it odd that Teresa Heinz was given control of Sen. Heinz' vast estate considering he had three adult heirs.
This guy has blacksmithing as his hobby and he takes an interest in kids getting an education, Obviously a nut on Buddhism , I have never understood why rich folks like to get involved in religions that are a bit off the wall for Americans. But thats ok he has his beliefs, and he helps folks , thats great. Dos he hate his mother? I dunno she looks like an easy person to hate. Maybe she is the one that named his daughter Astrid, that is enough to hate her for.
I think Boston and Seattle would embrace John Heinz as a kindred spirit.
I heard Heinz has a website for his ironwork. Any ideas how to find it? I'd like to see what he does.
maybe search "John Heinz Jr., blacksmith"
He runs his own custom ironwork shop, named after the Old English word herugrim, which means "fierce in war." On the shop's Web site, Heinz describes it as "an all-purpose blacksmith shop" that specializes in the pure iron and high-carbon steels used by early tradesmen. The forge primarily makes accurate replicas of historical weapons and armor, tools and architectural hardware, the site said.
The Web site has been taken down in the past week.

It took me awhile but I got it! LOL!
Hell if my mom married the most liberal member of the Senate and a complete fake, I'd hate her too! But I think you're correct. There wouldn't be any reason for the Globe to be bringing up a guy who just wants to be left alone unless trouble is coming down the pipeline.
He must be hammering out and making Shin Gum Do (Korean martial art) swords. He has the trust fund money and the time to do it. I think he runs some Shin Gum Do foundation.
I wondering if this is the guy they featured on "Mail Call"? Or was it "Modern Marvels"? The shows are sometimes so similar I get them confused. ;^)
I agree with you. Something is coming down the road.
My guess is TeRAYza is not only on serious prescription drugs, but was probably the modern day version of 'Mommy Dearest', and this guy could spill the beans.
