"I remember Allen, monster hurricane, I live on Galveston bay and Allen pushed 5 feet of water into Galveston bay when it was 250 miles out. An Allen type hurricane hitting a populated area on the gulf coast would be a disaster of biblical proportions."

I agree after watching some of the pictures of the aftermath of Charley and Andrew. Some folks in Florida talked about how their structures were "Hurricane proof" up to ceratin windspeed. I hardly hear anybody make that claim that claim downhere for good reasons.

When Seabrook called for a voluntary evacuation, I decided to load up my keg of beer an go down to the bay and watch the huricane roll in. man was I stupid, as I was getting ready one outter band from a hurincane 250 miles away hit. 50kts and hard hard rain. I changed my plans.
