Unfortunately I think you're wrong. The media has(with John Mccains help) successfully dismissed this as Republican smear-tactics. If you listen to Talk Radio, or are on FR, youve heard alot about the story. But that is a very small percentage of voters, and they are almost all Conservative Republicans anyway. The vast majority of people are not really seeing this story, and if they are, its being presented as a smear-campaign. Foxnews, talk radio, and the internet are definetly very helpful and are growing while the liberal media declines, but the liberals are still in full control of the debate for probably 60% of voters.
I agree. The only time this will come to the fore is if Kerry is elected and does something as president that the elites don't like. Then you will see him challenged for re election by H.Clinton and these damaging truths will be at the center of the attack.
Yes, the mainstream media is presenting this as a smear job, but more people than not, are realizing that this story does have legs and teeth. The polls of likely undecided likely voters are showing that about 60% of them are leaninging towards voting for President Bush in November because they believe the the Swiftboat Vets story and disbelieve the mainstream media and Senator Kerry's side of the story.
You have a point. Every story dismissing the vets quoted
McCain. Further emphasizing Mc Cain's story of having been smeared by GWB.
I swear, Libs would dump Kerry as a candidate in a New York minute if McCain said he was now a democrat and wanted to lead them.
There are at least two polls out there now that say you are wrong. Both show that about 60% of the people know about the Swift Vets' charges. Undecided voters who know of the charges are breaking 3-to-1 against Kerry.
The point of this article is that the establishment media does not have the power it once had to mold opinion. These polls are showing that to be true. People are finding out about the story anyway, and they are not believing the line that it's all just a smear.
This ad by the Swift Vets has been devastatingly effective, and 90% of that effect has come from the Internet. Very few people have actually seen the ad run on TV.
I beg to differ.
A polster has been asking independents in swing states who have seen the commercial if they are swayed away from voting for Kerry .. 27% say yes.
As for liberals owning 60% of the voters .. try 37-39% are Bush-haters .. not 60%
That is an awesome number for only 1 week.
And .. the book is #1 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can't get those numbers if nobody is paying attention.
And .. HAVE YOU HEARD ANOTHER WORD OUT OF McCAIN .. I didn't think so.
BS, I don't know if most people care but they do know. It may not make a difference but at least, I believe, they are being heard. I just wish that people cared a little more.
Whoa, are you wrong!!! There's a virtual stampede away from Kerry in Iowa, where I live. Never thought I'd see the day, but this Kerry Lied about Vietnam thing is ALL folks are talking about... if they don't know how to use a computer or go on the Internet, they ask someone who does so they can find out the REAL news about Kerry. HA!!! The mainstream media is losing ground as fast as Kerry... it's like folks are suddenly waking up in my state. And trying to get as much info as possible from those who are 'online' and reading it. Why? Because the newspapers are not reporting it. And what they do report (smearing the Swiftees, and such) is making folks even more curious about what Kerry has lied about. KERRY SMELLS, the mainstream media SMELLS, and people in my state SMELL IT!!
