Some Greeks stood up with thumbs down to protest, no audible booing or whistling..
The Iraqi and USA teams are mixing, with a number of athletes having a friendly chat in the middle.
Huge roar for the USA team, biggest at the games crowd keeping the energy level up.
Iraq entered to a roar, small male contingent proudly walking tall.
Interestingly, Iraqi team was flown to the games by the Australian Air Force.
North and South Korea recieve cheers as they enter together.
Hooah...thanks for the intel.
Surprising that the good ol USA got a big reception from Old Europe!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...........I am getting goosebumps just reading this.
At the very least I was expecting some whistles! This is great news..
It is too bad that NBC is covering the Olympics again. They have the most pathetic coverage. They miss events, delay live events, miss awards ceremonies.
Are there any internet streaming feeds?
I'm slow today...to protest what? I was thinking you meant the USA but then you said we got huge cheers.
Thanks for the update.
Here's my list of top cheers as I remember:
1. Greece
2. Cyprus
3. Iraq
4. Australia
5. Palestine (eh?)
6. USA
7. Afghanistan
8. UK, France, Spain and other bigger european nations
And top silence:
1. Iran
2. Israel
3. South & North Korea (suprise)
4. Turkey (got sort of forced polite applause)
My guess is that the cheers for the USA will not be broadcast.......don't forget this is on tape.....so they have the ability to adjust what we see.
This year the real Gold Medal should go to the American military.

The NBC website SUCKS for trying to get a decent SUMMARY of what is on TV and when...I'm going to fire up my PC Video recorder and record as much as I can...digitally.
Does ANYONE HAVE A SITE that can list all the channels and times and sports that we can follow?
I recorded every minute of TV from the '84 LA Oly's and it took me 18 or so VHS tapes...this time digital is it!

NBC... Nothing But Crap
OK. What's a "spolier" (pn. "SPOL-yea"?)
Did you notice the Iraqi athletes were wearing Red, White & Blue ties?
Watch them operate - they will build some poor athlete up until he collapses; than they start on another. Every single time they are looking for the "controversy"; if they can not find one they will surely manufacture one! They can't live without the controversy - it is their bread and butter! Then they would have a legitimate reason to forget about all the sports events going on - they will pounce on the "controversy". Remember my words!
All I had to hear was Perky Katie Kuric and I had to turn it right off.
