Since homes were thrown into the sea, I'd expect them to wash up on the shore, wouldn't you?

Not in my experience, but perhaps yours has been different?

Looks as though most of Charley bypassed coastal Georgia. There is absolutely no wind outside where I live, although radar shows one band that may approach. Tide is midway coming in, and could be higher than normal (they'd projected 3-5 feet higher).

There was some rain during the night, but I think any significant wind or rain would have woken me.
