I wasn't living down here for Hugo, but from the stories I've heard (even well inland here in Columbia), that has pretty much got South Carolinians conditioned to be wary of hurricanes for at least another generation.
Now I *was* here for the Great Floyd Evacuation Snafu. Anybody who thinks a hurricane can't seriously contribute toward costing a politician his job, ask our former Rat governor, Smilin' Jim Hodges!
