I am in Daytona Beach. The wind has got to be at least 40-50mph as I type this. The electric has flickered for the last 30 minutes, and things are making noise as they hit my house.

Gonna be a "rocky" nite. Will try to post alittle later.

I hope everyone is safe.

Olbermann complaining about the evacuations being done in the wrong locations.

I wanted to punch him; and Anderson Cooper, too.

Don't they realize that if they hadn't warned all those people, that there would be even MORE damage and casualties?

Anderson Cooper reporting that the Punta Gorda Hospital reporting "many" injuries/casualties.

My daughter, finally came back on line. She had lost power in Melbourne, south east of Orlando. They lost power for about an hour, and a trailer hit a house. I hope it is winding down there.

Power just went out in at least one neighborhood in Melbourne. (Gaulty Circle, if anyone knows where that is.)

It's gonna be bad; it always is the next day.

A lot of people are going to be really surprised, IMO.

Howlin, I haven't been able to follow the whole thread. Do you know how hard Tampa got hit?

Does anyone have first-hand information about Chuluota, Curryville, and Maitland?

Who is Anderson Cooper? Where did you hear this report. I have a nephew that lives on a sailboat in Punta Gorda. I am so worried.

Issuing a West Palm Beach warning?

Now??? When the thing is 200 miles north, and heading back towards Daytona????

They're getting goofy.

I'm in Tampa, and after preparing for the worst, we had some sprinkles of rain. Thats it.

I do think that they did the right thing being completely prepared for the storm in this area, with all of the evacuations.

Southwest Florida did not take it as seriously, with only evacuations on the islands. We are still waiting to hear from family in the SW Cape Coral area, one of the hardest hit.

where is it? the big hit area has been Fort Myers, but especially Punta Gorde, and Sanibel and those barrier islands.
