Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.
Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.
Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.
Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).
His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.
Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.
I really love Rush (as much as one can love someone one doesn't know) and hope that he is doing well.
Anybody who has recovered from an addiction must go through a process of examination. This is not the first time Rush has talked about it, so please don't read into this anymore than need be. I think he was talking about his marriage, trying to please others and not being true to yourself. Anyway, it's the truth and there's nothing wrong with Rush empathizing with the human side of this story.
You're a disgrace.
Good lord. It was a joke. :)
Yes, I'm sure it's Streisand. :)
As for myself, it was a joke. And the thought of Limbaugh smoking expensive cigars in an dress is, well, kinda funny.
Not surprisingly, the attempt to normalize homosexuality was one of the communist goals for this nation back in 1963. There is certainly a left-wing political agenda attached to such attempts.
It's sad to hear Rush selling out conservatives. It reminds of Barry Goldwater becoming a radical social liberal and marry some witch that was associated with Planned Parenthood at the end of his life.
He's not selling out anyone, he was making a personal comment about the emotional side of going through a scandal like this. He wasn't making any commentary on homosexuality.
Got it from the author, Terry Pratchett. It's pidgeon Latin
Maybe Rush should apologize to Bill Clinton, then, for making his personal life and Monica Lewinsky an issue if he really feels this way.
What McGreevey did is every bit as bad as what Clinton did. McGreevey was essentially be blackmailed and paying off at taxpayer expense. His sexual relationship with this pervert not only resulted in perferential hiring, but also in keeping this guy on the payroll at a $110,000 a year after he was deemed unfit for the job.
But I don't believe the sex deflection can work this time around. At least I hope it won't.
He specifically stated that McGreevey's life would improve now that he was no longer living a lie. That is the equivalent of stating that accepting homosexual desires is a natural and positive thing to do. Only someone with no concept of right and wrong and basic morality would make such a claim.
I'm sorry, but I wouldn't give this any credence. The person writing obviously hates Limbaugh and conservatives. It's just a hate-filled article and I wouldn't believe any of it.
Hmmmmmmmm..... putting two and two together.
Rush has announced many times that he is a male lesbian. Well, hell, so am I. The cool thing about having deviant behavior in your genes is that it gives you license to screw other people (figuratively), counter your vows, claim discrimination whenever anything goes against you...it even qualifies you to be an Episcopal bishop these days.
Given the truth of my statement re a leary public, it would still be a heavy handed blow to insinuate something like that. A man, or woman can take a lot of speculation about a lot of things. Nonetheless, in Rush's case it is something that would devastate his image.
I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend your right to say it, as the phrase goes.
Your speculation, if made only to hurt Rush, is "reprehensible"- Barney Frank pronuniciation. I wonder what your motive is - I mean REALLY- what it is.
Ya, DemocRATS give rats a bad name.
I agree with everything you say about Rush.
My wife agrees with what you say about me. Only thing is she has the right and the experience and also knows when I am kidding. You know nothing about me and have no right to insult me unless it is that youare my elder.
