Here are my thoughts without having read any of the posts on this thread. I'm guessing that the "living the lie" thing that he has referred to since he came out of rehab (or sometimes referred to as "living to make others happy") had mainly to do with his relationship with Marta and probably previous women. I have no idea what the problems were, but I do know that men and women both can have a tendency to bend over backwards for their mates and if it isn't reciprocated, you can really suffer. This is all conjecture, of course. But I, like you, don't think that the "lie" was the drug addiction. I think this mainly because of his comments immediately after getting out of rehab. It was also very obvious that something was up with Marta right after rehab. He seldom mentioned her the way he did before he went in. Before he went in, he used to say very affectionate things on the air all the time and refer to her as, "the lovely and gracious Marta".
I really love Rush (as much as one can love someone one doesn't know) and hope that he is doing well.

Outstanding analysis of Rush's comments, his relationship with Marta, etc.
I have wondered lately if he's got something going with "Dawn" who is on his radio staff. He comments frequently on how she is responding to his remarks, etc. Once in awhile, it just seems like he's flirting with her.
Whatever...
