Rush on McGreevy: Sympathy for living a lie

Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.

Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.

Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.

Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).

His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.

Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.

I Agree. I don't doubt Mcreevy is a perve and as time will show, corrupt. but he cant think women are to yucky if he keeps having kids. His claiming to be gay is just a distraction from something really bad that might come out

The person I felt empathy for was his wife. I can't imagine announcing to the whole world your having an affair. And, BTW, I am a Gay American. (As opposed to what, a Russian Gay?) I really felt for HER.

I heard or read somewhere that the way he is handing this over is a violation to the state's constitution. Was apparently going to be a lot of noise and challenging that. The people should be able to elect a new governor... not have one assigned. ALSO, there is that nasty little $5 million bribe by the guy he put on the state's Homeland Security... without proper clearance.

Part of the empathy is understanding her stupidity. I don't care what she was promoting... she HAD to be going through HELL. I can't imagine standing up there like that... and I sure don't understand it. Unless she is a robot, she has got to be torn up.

What's with all this sympathy stuff all the sudden? Are we supposed to have sympathy that Sadr is wounded? Sympathy because blow off "Dick and Jane" would rather pump out 7 kids and live on welfare than to use protection and get a job? Sympathy to those trying to cut heads off? Sympathy because a few kids wanted to whack a "friend" over a x-box? Sympathy because Kerry is confused about dates in Cambodia? Sympathy for a NJ Governor turned out to be less of a man than even his wife knew?

But the point is McGreevy was forced to come out, and he came OUT about something other than what he will be accused of!

Rush has a heart, just like I and most people do.

As for myself, I despise most of McGreevey's policies, such as his soak the rich tax hikes and mandatory same-sex benefits, but I felt sorry for him on a personal level yesterday.

He and the Dems are so deluded, they are blaming McGreev's forced resignation on him being gay, when they knew it was for the upcoming indictment shoes sure to fall.

In other words , McGreev's homo affair is the sacrificial lamb.
