Just had a call from my son, Steve, a Physician Assistant teaching PA's at Nova Southeastern University, in Ft. Lauderdale.
As many of you know, he is a volunteer with DMAT - Disaster Medical Assistance Team - of South Florida, and they are headed over to Punta Gorda right now to assist.

You might have heard there was a hospital that had its roof blown off, with casualties; and in another area, a shelter that collapsed on 1,000 persons who had taken refuge in it.
He will be super busy until they are no longer needed.

Looks as if it will not affect this side of South Carolina.

My brother Kevin is just outside of Disney World, he said he can see the fireworks at night.

Last I looked (1/2 hour ago) this storm was right on top of him.

Prayers for all. Been checking the weather channel all day. Thought about your son before, didn't remember his exact location...Bless him for the good work he does. My Step-Dad Fred is in Merritt Island, been calling all day, no answer. I am guessing he went to his son's home. Worry, worry....I am suppose to go to SC tomorrow, driving. Will just wait and see what Charley decides to do.

I'm mad! lonestar has been occupied this past week with local politics and hasn't had much time to let me talk.

lonestar met our new re-districted congressman--Kevin Brady--yesterday and was much impressed.

Now lonestar is packing for 2 days of R & R and I'll have to be content with running things at "the bridge."

I just want to say I hope all my FReeper "aunts and uncles" have a good weekend.
