Take Action! McGreevey Out NOW! (quick action item)
FR ^

Posted on 08/12/2004 4:45:35 PM PDT by jmstein7

Jim McGreevey has resigned as Governor of New Jersey... but he is making his resignation effective in NOVEMBER, after the election, for the mere purpose of preventing a Republican from taking over the Governorship and to prevent helping Bush's reelection effort.  This man is a disgrace!  This is unacceptable, and you can help the effort to get him out NOW!  Here are a few small steps that may make a BIG difference:

1.  Contact McGreevey's Former Opponent, Bret Schundler (R-NJ)

Here is Bret's email address:  bret@schundler.org

Send Bret an email asking him to demand McGreevey's immediate exit.  Here is a sample email if you are short on time:

Dear Bret,

Jim McGreevey has disgraced the state of New Jersey, and he has no business remaining in office until November.  I hope you will lead the charge to make McGreevey's exite immediate.

This is not about the Governor's sexual orientation -- this is about Jim McGreevey's corruption and unscrupulous behavior.  McGreevey did not resign for the good of New Jersey; if he did, he would have, rightly, left immediately.  McGreevey left to save himself, dodge a bullet (a civil suit), and save the Democrat Party.  This is disgraceful.

Please do the right thing and lead the charge to make McGreevey's resignation immediate!

Sincerely,

2.  Contact New Jersey State Senate Republican Leader Leonard Lance

You can call and leave a message here:  (908) 788-6900

Or, you can email him by clicking HERE and then clicking the "contact" link.  You can send him an email similar to the one you sent to Bret Schundler.  E.g.:

Dear Senator Lance,

Sincerely,

3.  Send a Letter to the Editor

First, open the "Write for W," easy letter-to-the-editor form HERE.

Before you start, be sure to enter your zipcode in the form provided and select "get info" -- the red button.

Check off all the publication names, and then scroll down to write your letter.  If you have the time, then click "Show All Newspapers" and check off as many boxes as you can.

Again, based on the sample we've been using, the letter should read something like this:

To The Editor

Jim McGreevey has disgraced the state of New Jersey, and he has no business remaining in office until November.  This is not about the Governor's sexual orientation -- this is about Jim McGreevey's corruption and unscrupulous behavior.  McGreevey did not resign for the good of New Jersey; if he did, he would have, rightly, left immediately.  McGreevey left to save himself, dodge a bullet (a civil suit), and save his party.  This is disgraceful and shameful.  He must leave office immediately.

You're kidding right? Respect for his children.? He should have said he's stepping down today due to the shame he's brought on his family.

Thanks jmstein7 for your efforts.

I agree..."the overwhelming support and outpouring of sympathy have convinced me to continue to serve the people of New Jersey for my full term, just as they elected me to do." I guarantee it.

I also noticed his wife by his side. She didn't look to upset. This is probably due to the fact that they have a relationship similiar to the Clintons. A Business relationship.

The longer I think about this the louder it screams "SMOKESCREEN".

That's what I was thinking. The pending lawsuit could be orchestrated.

I hope McGreevey stays through the election. The rage, the indictments, the rumors, the ridiculousness of him sitting on the payroll will help Bush put the state in play.

Kerry will pay for McGreevey's sins.

Looks like something Clinton used to do.

He'd leak information himself..so that he could control how much of it came out. And it worked for old crusty quite well.

we put the state in play... will cost the RATS a fortune just to defend it, thus bankrupting their efforts elsewhere... NJ has two of the most expensive media markets in the nation

Precisely. McGreevey put his own power and self-gratification above our security. Sound familiar?

We must not only throw THIS bum out. We must throw out the entire corrupt, self-serving democratic machine. (And not only in NJ.)

And BTW, it sounds to me as tho the governor's malfeasance may be criminal....

The more I think of it, just sickening and then still playing politics with the office he holds.

Not that Republicans are saints, but those that are doing right should be showing a stark contrast between the corruption that is constantly being revealed by democrats holding public office--they're predators.

But its a Dem. Shundler could force a special election if he made enough noise.
