"Unfit for Command" really blew me away. It is far more devastating to John Kerry than I imagined it would. It exposes John Kerry's lies, one after another, in a fashion that shows his true motivations for going to Vietnam -- as a badge he could wear to promote himself in his future political ambitions.
I have read section one (about half of the book) so far. Even if you discount all of the "my word against his" type of claims, the exposing of John Kerry's own words provides the noose that will hang him.
I found some of these facts amazing:
- John Kerry was turned down for his first purple heart. Did that discourage him? No way, he just applies for one elsewhere.
- John Kerry's Cambodia story.
- John Kerry's behavior at the recent Swift Vets reunion.
Note that none of John Kerry's supporters are challenging the claims the Swift Vets make, but instead attacking the motives. I feel once this story makes it into the mainstream, it will end John Kerry's chances for the White House.
Bottom line - this is an excellent book. Please do all you can to buy it immediately.
Hibbard has recapitulated this fact on the air, as well. At least the fact that he [Hibbard] turned down Kerry's reuest to be put in for a purple heart. That much, Hibbard has personal knowledge of. He does not have personal knowledge of how Kerry did get the award.
But you are right, it is not a "he said, he said" dispute.
Wach for more FUD from the Kerry camp and the media enablers.
I was never worried about Kerry getting into the White House anyway,
1. When has a Senator actually made it into the White House?
2. If, and I mean IF, Kerry wins, that means Hillary couldn't run in '08. Most incumbent Presidents win the elections. The DNC wouldn't let her run against an existing Dem.
So how did you get your hands on one to review?
"Kerry wasn't in Cambodia before he was in Cambodia."
I just wish there was more publicity on his actions when he got home
His outrageous book and the cover mocking the Iwo Jima Flag Raising should be spread all over the internet and talk radio
His lies in front of the senate and how they hurt the veterans and POWS
These are even worse outrages
Precisely
Bought it at a bookstore in John F'n Kerry's home state! :)
It was released a couple days ago, but it seems that the demand for this book is way more than anticipated.
Honestly, I can't see how someone could read this book and still vote for JFK.....
Until Kerry authorizes release of his full military record, we don't know who put Kerry in for the first PH and for what reason. All Kerry has released is his treatment sheet signed by HM-1 Carreon. We have the casualty reports for the other two PHs but not the first one. A casualty report is required for a PH.
"Buy this book."
How appropriate! I didn't realize it was in the bookstores. I was dismayed at the ship dates everyone was citing in their posts but I guess today I'll go find out where my local B&N has hidden their supply!
Thomas Wright was one of John F. Kerry's fellow Swift boat officers in Vietnam. Since Wright outranked Kerry, he was Kerry's sometime boat group Officer-in-Charge, so Wright had occasion to observe Kerrys behavior and attitudes, and the circumstances surrounding his early departure from the war zone. The intervening years have not dimmed his memories.
I had a lot of trouble getting him to follow orders, recalls Wright. He had a different view of leadership and operations. Those of us with direct experience working with Kerry found him difficult and oriented towards his personal, rather than unit goals and objectives. I believed that overall responsibility rested squarely on the shoulders of the OIC or OTC in a free-fire zone. You had to be right (before opening fire). Kerry seemed to believe there were no rules in a free-fire zone and you were supposed to kill anyone. I didnt see it that way.
It got to a point where Wright told his divisional commander he no longer wanted Kerry in his boat group, so he was re-assigned to another one. I had an idea of his actions but didnt have to be responsible for him. Then Wright and like-minded boat officers took matters into their own hands. When he got his third Purple Heart, three of us told him to leave. We knew how the system worked and we didnt want him in Coastal Division 11. Kerry didnt manipulate the system, we did.
Just release your records Kerry....
So, Hibbard does not have personal knowledge of how Kerry got his 1st PH. All Hibbard has personal knowledge of is turning down Kerry's request.
Part 2 of the book covers that, which I haven't read yet. I'm expecting more bombshells.
Wanna bet that Kerry's military records, which would prove or disprove the SBV's assertions have either been altered and/or lost (bureaucratic snafu, no doubt). There are a lot of sympathetic Rats in the DOD -- just ask Linda Tripp.
