I come from Kenya, the same country as Obama's father. First of all I would like to correct the author. He claims that the word Barack comes from the word "Baraka". That's correct but he adds to say that it is Arab and not African (Assuming he meant Kenya because Africa is not a country). Swahili is the national Language in Kenya. It's a blend of Arab and Bantu languages. Baraka is a swahili word so he got it wrong this time. I have been speaking swahili all my life so I'm pretty sure of that.

Again the author terms the Mau Mau group as "murderous inner circle of rapists, murderers, and arsonists". He definitely heard this from the Brittish (if he's not one). History is told by he who writes it. The Mau Mau were fighting for their independence. In the early 40s the Brittish promised a group from the Kikuyu tribe in central Kenya freedom if they enrolled in the "Royal Army" and fight the Japanese in Burma and the Nazis in Egypt and Lybia. Due to prior mistreatment the Kenyans agreed and off they matched to World War 2. After the war, they realised that the "Royal Army" deal was a hoax and the Brittish were not leaving Kenya any time soon. So they revolted just like the Patriots in Boston in the early 1770s. The Brittish declared a state of emergency and threw most (if not all) people from the Kikuyu tribe to labor camps. This included both of my parents. YOu wonder how a country can do this just after seeing the horrors of the Nazis in the early 40s. They (Mau Mau) fought a revolutionary war and I strongly belive that they deserve a better description that "murderous inner circle of rapists, murderers, and arsonists". They pretty much lost the war but forced the Brittish out due to the extremely high costs on the Brittish side of fighting the guerilla war with the Kenyan Mau Mau that quicly offset the benefits of keeping the colony. SO I'd say the Mau Mau won the financial war despite losing on the battle front.

Now Obama's father was not a kikuyu. He was a Luo and despite the fact that his tribe was also in the fore front of liberation of the Kenyan people, I can bet my life that there were no Luo poeple in the Mau Mau movement. The Luos were more involved in the political front of trying to negotiate more freedom for the Africans. That is not "murderous inner circle of rapists, murderers, and arsonists". His father went back to Kenya because that was his home and he felt that there were going to be opportunities back home where there was not going to be an official segregation policy by the goverment, unlike the US in the 50 and 60s. He must have been frustrated with life in the US as he was black. Remember his wife (Obama's mother) was fom Kansas and black people neer really felt at home so he must have had major issues dealing with the in-laws. So the natural thing to do is go back home where he will feel true freedom than fight racism here.

The author claims that Obama's family is taunted with rape and murder? Does he have evidence of this? Documented arrest warrants or legal proceedings against such claims would be welcome.

He continues to say that his research is not yet complete. In my opinion, this is not research as there are no background facts to accompany it.

I agree with the author that Hussein is an Arabic word as I have neer heard of it in the Swahili world. I also agree that Kenyatta's goverment was corrupt, but point to me a perfect goverment. Kenyatta was not murderous, he frictioned with the Mau Mau because they wanted total war with the Brittish. Kenyatta knew that we couldn't fight them off but they're bravery won us our independence. Kenyatta was sent to prison right after the declaration of a state of emergency on 20th October 1952. The next nine years say most of the battles for independence. He was surely not able to command an army from a Brittish prison which was in the middle of no where - completely inaccessible.

I'm not very sure whether Obama is a Muslim but if he is, I agree with the author that he should just come out with it. THe problem with politics is the kind of information that floats around. If the author has a chance of misleading the American people into thinkingof his background the way he has, we may lose a perfect candidate due to false information. Let's try our best to get the facts straight before we release such image damaging information to the public, unless damaging Obama's image is one's first priority, at any cost.

Obama is a "perfect candidate"?

Maybe for Marxists and abortionists.

Some interesting clarifications and opinions there, newbie.

I'm of the opinion that Senator Obama is not Presidential material because of his politics...I don't give a d@^n about his race, religion, ancestry, etc.

True, false or in between, it doesn't matter as Obama will never be president of the US.

Well, I better not say never because he is a young man, but he won't be on top of the ticket on this cycle.

Right now the media are treating him like a rock star, but a misstep or two and ... who knows? Things can change pretty fast in politics.

Welcome to FR, Jimbo.

I knew a Luo girl once (last name Warambo) who was scandalized when she found out that I also knew a Kikuyu girl (Mbuthia). This was in NYC in the seventies. She got over it.
