ABC News continues cheerleading for Ketchup Boy (Their slip is showing!)
Ramblings' Journal ^ | 8.11.04 | Michael King

Posted on 08/11/2004 10:30:17 AM PDT by mhking

ABC News' political unit produces a daily newsletter called "The Note," which today makes an idiotic claim.

Forget the fact that that we still can't find a single American who voted for Al Gore in 2000 who is planning to vote for George Bush in 2004. (If you are that elusive figure, e-mail us and tell us who you are and why: politicalunit@abcnews.com.)
Don't forget that "The Note" jumped off of the fence of impartiality back in February when they admitted that they are liberal, and actively working for the defeat of President Bush.
Like every other institution, the Washington and political press corps operate with a good number of biases and predilections.

They include, but are not limited to, a near-universal shared sense that liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion, and religion are the default, while more conservative positions are "conservative positions."

It still has a hard time understanding how, despite the drumbeat of conservative grass-top complaints about overspending and deficits, President Bush's base remains extremely and loyally devoted to him -- and it looks for every opportunity to find cracks in that base.

More systematically, the press believes that fluid narratives in coverage are better than static storylines; that new things are more interesting than old things; that close races are preferable to loose ones; and that incumbents are destined for dethroning, somehow.

So, contrary to the constant carpings about impartiality, keep in mind the ultimate agenda of the Washington press corps in general, and ABC News in particular, as admitted by their own staffers: They want Bush out. Period.

Maybe your looking in the wrong place. If you can't find any Bush supporters among your ex-hippie friends who spent the war in Canada, try asking a vet.

This is patently false. I have a number of Dem friends, some quite active in local politics that are vigorously opposed to Kerry, mostly because of his betrayal of the Vietnam vets.

I've never seen anything like this before. It wasn't like this in 2000, and this has led me to conclude that all of these polls showing a near 50/50 split are complete BS.

I guess I can admit it since I'm going to change screen names soon... I voted for Gore. All I can say in my defense is he didn't used to be as insane as he is today. The debates were a big clue, but it wasn't really until after the election that I realized what a big fat looser he was.

No way in heck am I voting for anyone but George W. Bush this November. The 'rats are ALL freaking insane. And the liberals should really be called libsocs.

The real question is if they can find anyone who admitted to voting for Gore in 2000.

that's okay. I actually voted for Lawton Chiles in 1990. The worst vote I ever cast, and I went directly to the polling place from my hospital bed, less than 2 days after giving birth.

Postpartum confusion.

A friend of mine who always votes Democrat told me that he's going to vote for Bush this year. I think the threat of a tax hike finally got his attention.

My lesbian sister in law and her girlfriend were both Gore voters who are now voting for Bush. This guy needs to get out more.

I just wrote an email to ABCnews revealing myself as a Gore voter turned Bush voter. I explained to them that the Democratic party is becoming increasingly left-wing and elitist...

Agreed. Though these same left-wingers would have you believe that the Republicans are moving farther to the right...(unfortunately) that's just not the case. Many democrat voters have moved so far left that maybe they consider us all to be like David Duke.
Congratulations, btw, on coming around. FreeRepublic helped me see the light.

I can name two: Zell Miller and Ed Koch. Perhaps ABC may have heard of them.

I will have my husband email "The Note".

I married a Democrat and he voted for Al Gore in 2000. yes we canceled each other out. But after 9/11, (and much brow-beating from his lovely wife!) he saw the light and now is voting for Bush.

He was always a conservative Democrat (from Georgia) but 9/11 finally pushed him to the right way.

I voted for Gore in 2000 and whined about it when Bush was "selected Resident of the United States". I was looking foreward to payback in '04. I've been a Democrat all my life. And then something happened, 9/11/01. While I watched with horror at the human tragedy of those events, I also got D*** mad. In the aftermath of 9/11 I saw George Bush rise to the challenge of the times as PRESIDENT of the United States and as Commander in Chief of our armed forces.

When I have some time I may do a vanity post on why I've chosen to call myself "ADemocratNoMore" on this forum. In a nutshell, my exposure to the independent media on the internet exposed the liberal - Rats for who and what they are. Armed with that knowledge I have no problem stating publically that I am voting for President Bush.

At least half of Georgia democrats are Republican at heart - they just haven't figured it out yet!

Glad your husband saw the light.

You are right. He just needed to admit that he was really a conservative. Now, watch out if you are liberal. He is fearless!

I also have friends who voted for Nadar last time. I know they are voting for Bush this time. Does that count for "the note"?
