Kerry "Corrects Record," "Seared" Memory of Christmas in Cambodia Now "Mistaken Recollection"
Wednesday, August 11, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 08/11/2004 6:41:38 AM PDT by kristinn

In an interview this morning on Fox and Friends, Kerry spokeman Jeh Johnson backed off of Democrat presidential nominee Senator John Kerry's repeated statements that he had spent Christmas 1968 on a secret mission in Cambodia.

Fox's Brian Kilmead asked Mr. Johnson whether Sen. Kerry would release the action report from January 20, 1969 regarding purported action in Cambodia.

Mr. Johnson said, "I believe you're referring to an incident that happened near Cambodia. Okay, well John Kerry has said on the record that he had a mistaken recollection earlier. He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve, 1968, which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia. He has since corrected the record to say it was someplace on a river near Cambodia and he is certain that at some point subsequent to that he was in Cambodia. My recollection, my understanding is he was not certain about that date.

Mr. Kilmead brought up Sen. Kerry's 1986 floor speech in the Senate where he talked about spending Christmas in Cambodia as being "seared---seared" in his memory.

Mr. Johnson replied, "I believe he's corrected the record to say it was someplace near Cambodia, but he is not certain whether it was actually in Cambodia but he is certain that there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia."

Mr. Johnson also repeated Sen. Kerry's canard that he left Yale in 1966 and turned down all options to further his education by choosing to serve his country. As was (barely) reported in March of this year, Sen. Kerry asked for and was denied a one year deferment to study in Paris.

What would be the problem with Kerry being in Cambodia in 1968?????

The problem for Kerry is he is being outed as a liar that he is .. Kerry has a long history of not telling the truth and then flipping his story

It's impossible for Kerry to have been there .. whether it was on Christmas Eve or New Years Eve

It's comes down to Character

Do you trust a man to protect this country who has a long history of lying ??

Do you trust Kerry with your life???

I don't

Not everyone. There are just as many folks working overtime to cover up our work. And they have the big TV networks and the big newspapers behind them.

This is sadly true. I'm hoping that his own appearances, plus word of mouth, can educate people as to Kerry's true character. Theresa, God help her, is not helping him in that department.

The Swift Boat guys are doing an excellent job exposing Kerry's lies. I don't think the liberal media can completely squash their testimony.

Michael Moore may have one thing correct, America is full of stupid people. That's if they believe Kerry went to Cambodia during Vietnam, X-mas eve or whenever.

...he is certain there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia

Sure, he was in Cambodia - about 20-30 years subsequent to that.

It was a policy of the United States NOT to be in Cambodia at that time; he lied.

I certainly don't trust Kerry with my life. My life is in God's hands.

I want to hear other knowledgeable FReepers talk about what went on. I am so ignorant about this subject that I could easily accept a Kerry plausible explanation. But I want to know the truth. There are lots of folks who served in Cambodia during the Vietnam War. Most of 'em have received ZERO recognition for it.

As for the impossibility of Kerry being in Cambodia, I am not so certain. I want to know what makes it an impossibility.

When did that policy take effect? As in, I know there were folks who served in Cambodia during the Vietnam War.

My son in law is a democrat. I don't understand it. He has more in common with conservative Republicans than democrats.

I have family members that are Dems and the way they talk about high taxes .. big government .. the way the joke about the dead voting in Philly and the Union Bosses they sound like Republicans

But they'll be damned if they would ever admit it to me they have conservative views

Go figure

You'll have to ask somebody else; I'm not up to date on those facts.

Perhaps somebody will come along with them shortly. They usually do. :-)

I was just thinking about the Sandinistas yesterday, but couldn't recall any facts. We don't hear too much about Nicaragua, or any of the other countries in Central and South America these days. Of course excluding flood and earthquake disaster reports. I vaguely remember the Iran-Contra hearings. It wasn't good.

As for the impossibility of Kerry being in Cambodia, I am not so certain. I want to know what makes it an impossibility.

Because there were boats and guards to stop him from going into Cambodia even if he tried to

There have been a number of military experts that have been on TV saying the same thing

Also the reason the media/press has jumped on this part of the story is because they too know it's impossible for this story of Kerry's to be true

Heck .. even they Kerry Camp is retracting the story
