Kerry's campaingn represented by a Jeh Johnson just said Kerry misspoke about the date he was in Cambodia. He was there at one point but now he is not sure of the date. So he didn't lie - he just misspoke.

So if I understand this correctly.

Kerry wasn't in Cambodia before he was in Cambodia.

Well it makes perfect sense to me, I think?

It would be nice if this Cambodia issue was the only thing that Kerry lied about! It seems to me that he is a pathological liar? It would be good for a daring psychologist to analyze Kerry's statements that are obviously in opposition to one another. (I was in Cambodia, I wasn't in Cambodia; I threw my medals away, I didn't throw my medals away; I voted for the 87bil before I voted against it; I hunted deer by crawling on my belly, I didn't......; I am for the Iraq war, I am opposed to the Iraq war).... Too many others to list here.

lol...good one...Kerry is going to rue the day he ever mentioned Vietnam...but then, what other kind of record did he have? Too bad, Kerry, the American public learned their lessons with the Clintons!

The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon [sic] claimed there were no American troops was very real

Nixon was not inaugurated yet. Loves to lie but has a poor memory.

Swift Boat Vets for TRUTH

OBTW also mentioned last night was that Kerry during his "2 tours of Vietnam" was in training for 1 month which would give him a total of 3 months served.

And then there's this, from the Washington Post:

And who is he, really?

A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

"Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this."

The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

"My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

Date of the article? June 1, 2003. Try not to read the whole article, it is so filled with fawning sentences like the last two that you might develop "contact diabetes."

-- President Nixon, of course, did not assume office until January of 1969.

Not according to liberals. To liberals, Nixon was entirely responsible for Vietnam. Johnson? Who`s that? Kennedy? Who`s that?

John Kerry's remarks are typical of Baby Boomers.
Having lived dull lives of relative comfort, they feel envious at the exploits of others.
They wish to construct an heroic (or troubled) past that can be used to justify current actions, enhance their current prospects, or impress others.
Boomers create incidents in their minds, events that are perhaps fully fabricated or only partially fabricated.
It is important for the Boomer that the circumstances surrounding the events be credible even if factually untrue, for he does not want to be caught in an outright lie.
At first, these incidents are never vocalized, but as time passes and the person mentally revisits the incident, details are added to the incident until it takes on the vivid character of real life experience.
Fearful of discovery, the Boomer recounts the enlarged and fabricated event only reluctantly.
However as time passes and no one challenges the veracity of his story, he is more open with the story.
Finally, he has told the story so many times that he comes to believe it himself.
Its certain John Kerry believes he was in Cambodia in 1968, despite any evidence that might be presented to the contrary.

"I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared -— seared -— in me, that says to me."

If the Kerry campaign is now claiming that Kerry was "mistaken" about Cambodia, please tell me how a memory that never happened gets "seared" in one's brain?.

John Kerry's Vietnam War journal

Excerpt from a type-written journal kept by John F. Kerry during his tour of duty in the Vietnam War:

...It's cool now and the evening has closed around you to become full night. The night for once is comforting and you take a coke and some peanut butter and jelly and go up on the roof of the cabin whit your tape recorder and sit for a while, quietly, watching flares float silently through the sky and flashes announce disquieting intent somewhere in the distance. You call down to one of your men and ask him to draft a message to the Admiral in Command of all Naval Forces in Vietnam and also to the Commander of Market Time. IT says "Merry Christmas from the most inland Market Time unit." You hope that they'll court marshal you or something because that would make sense. But the night soothes everything and the people and things that are close to you dart through the mind and bring the only warmth and peace that there is. Visions of sugar plums really do dance through your head and you think of stockings and snow and roast chestnuts and fires with birch logs and all that is good and warm and real. It's Christmas Eve.

So I guess that the "good luck hat" which Kerry carries and which he says was given to him by a CIA operative (when he taxied him into Cambodia) is really no more than a security blanket a la Linus.

I am sure that when John Kerry was dropping acid in Viet Nam, he was in Cambodia, and it was Christmas, and he and the wall were one, and there was the sound of one hand clapping......

*smack*

(That was the sound of my one hand slapping him upside his face.)
