PRAISE THE LORD.

Now the President is getting votes. Do away with the IRS. No flat tax. National sales tax is the way to go. Even the illegals we have to support would have to pay a little.

A MEN to that brother. The black market will go away. The drug dealers and pilferers will have to PAY for what they consume. I see it as an equal playing field for all Americans, and, even the illegals that we're too ashamed to export back to their countries. There is so much corruption in this country, IMOHO, this is the only way to go.

Very well put.

This is a good point. Much tax revenue is lost through under-the-counter income (ranging from sales of illegal substances to plain old paying off the books) which means that those of us who have legal, indentifiable incomes all end up paying more. Putting tax collection at the point of purchase would mean that even the scammers would finally pay.

You don't think the black market would grow with total sales taxes (fed + state) approaching 40% (exclusive) on every product & service sold? Why do you think there is a larger black market for cigarettes than there is for candy bars?

The larger the rate, the greater the incentive is to avoid the taxes.
