Company Says Farr Violated Rules
POSTED: 1:31 pm CDT August 10, 2004 UPDATED: 1:40 pm CDT August 10, 2004
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A Republican Amtrak conductor has been suspended for suggesting passengers should vote against Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
Conductor Leslie Farr is challenging Democratic Congressman William Lacy Clay in the November election.
Last week, Farr was on a Kansas City-to-St. Louis train that was delayed several hours while waiting for Kerry's locomotive to leave St. Louis and head to a rally in Jefferson City.
Farr says he told passengers they would be delayed because of Kerry, then quipped that they should vote accordingly in November.

What a crock! If it was the train of President Bush and he made the same comment, nothing would've happened. Even the Kansas City Star poll on the linked page is running 62% against Amtrak on this issue.
Where is Tim Robbins complaining about the "chill wind" now? Oh, wait that only applys to rich, hollywood, leftists.
Love that tagline.
Btw- I take it back, hanging would be great!
Otherwise, we will have every Amtrak conductor spouting telling all the people on the trains who to vote for. And I would imagine that most of the Unionized Conductors are Democrats.
Boycott Amtrak until they reinstate and apologize to Mr. Farr.

And what would a newspaper have to say if some other phenomenon delayed a train with passengers aboard for SEVERAL HOURS.
Good point, hypocrisy only runs so deep!

Hmmm, doesn't pay to be a Republican whistle blower I guess.
Where is the ACLU?
Eenie, meenie, miney, mo. Catch a tiger by the toe.
Seems to me humor is a lost art. Either that or nobody can take a joke nowadays.
Letters and complaints to Amtrack for surpressing Free Speech, mine will be headed to main office.

Great idea, Now every Amtrak conductor will be free to read DNC Talking Points over the intercom!
Amtrak can run their trains worth a damn, but they have time for this?? I pay their operations cost and their salaries and I say the conductors can say any damn thing they want!
It has come down to this: A publicly funded and poorly run intity has employees and they cannot express a negative thought against a democrat running for president (badly, I may add). Ir would not be aqn issue if the employee had degraded President Bush, I assume.
We need to get ahold of Amtrac and let them know who funds thier little choo-choos. And let them know that an anti-Kerry remark only raises their career-long nothingness to almost something respectable.
Kerry ain't the Virgin Mary. He can be touched.
