To speak out against the Swiftboat Vets. This ought to be a Barf-O-Rama.

I missed the interview. Did Newt mention if Kerry released his records this would go away?

Can someone check on Rassmans voter registration. He says he is a Republican but I doubt it...

No, you are right. He said: you've got Fahrenheit 911 on the left, and the Swiftboat guys on the right. Take your pick.

Unfreakingbelievable.

well coached is not the word.

To my eye, he came across as a well coached lay witness.
The same as preparing a witness who does not testify every day, for court testimony and cross.

He is preped as to when to insert the proper taling points.

His "final" point, a gift from Oreily to Kerry, was so canned as to border on absurd.

The media hacks are going to keep rassmen out front to have a "mee too" counter to the SWV. The stratgy, which orieily has been suckered hook line and sinker, is to reduce this to he said/he said.

WHERE IS THE JOURNALISM?

O'Reilly just said Kerry "misspoke" when he said his memory of being in Cambodia was seared into his mine. Puh-lease.

The issue isn't well stated in terms of where Kerry was -- Kerry was trying to impress listeners to his story, that he was in Cambodia. Without that being part of the story, the story loses ALL of its impact. "Misspeaking" does not comport with such tale telling. Being "technically close, but not in" is not part of the equation. Was Kerry fabricating a(nother) story? That is the question.

Rassmann was a special ops guy riding on Kerry's boat. So he didn't serve under Kerry right? The guy falls overboard and Kerry pulls him back in the boat. Ergo, Kerry saves his life???

Say what ...
I have a boat and someone falls off and I get them back aboard. I don't quite look at it as if I saved their life. People fall off boats and some even jump off boats all the time. Wouldn't anyone help someone back aboard??? I sure don't see this as heroic.

What am I missing?

Saving his life is a bit dramatic. Picking someone out of the water who fell overboard and can still swim while not under attack is not exactly heroic. The rescue of the other three people is not even mentioned.

"As I understand it, John O'Neill is a registered Dem. I hope some fellow Freeper can confirm this."

Not sure.

I couldn't believe that remark--here all the time I though he had "served" with him.

His remark about the Swiftboat Vets being politically motivated is a hypocracy--what does he think Kerry is doing with him? Why doesn't Oreilly defend the Swiftboat Vets the same way as he ignores any political motivation regarding Rassmann?

Yep. It seems like Newt helped that along by equating SBV and Moore. Great. Isolate them and then marginalize them. Doesn't hurt Kerry then.

"Listening to Rassman praising Kerry's courage to dissent while chastizing the Swift Boat Vets is rather amusing."

If only Kerry's behavior when he came home was simply opposing the war, but he specifically attacked the troops who served (and died) in 'Nam and deliberately lied about their service. His actions began a snowball effect that created a hostile environment for returning vets, and that hostility went on for years. I honestly don't understand how a former Green Beret can accept that type of behavior, even from the man who supposedly pulled him from the water. Rassman's portraying Kerry's anti-war behavior only as "dissent" tells me this guy must be a paid shill for Kerry.

It would be great if the media did keep Rassman out front. Sooner or later he's going to forget the script.

That is the 'inside the beltway' view of all of this. It may not be the 'mainstream American' view of it though.

It was astonishing to see the absolute hatred of our president that showed in the eyes of Baldwin.

But the larger question is who in the Sam Hill gives a rats patoot what Alec Baldwin or any other celebrity thinks??
