We ought never forget him and Billy Dale and all the others that the america hating media sought to destroy.
Aldrich remains a real American hero.
"the Right ran and hid in the tall grass"
While Gary may be making a true statement .. this is a different time. There are still some repubs running for cover, but those who stand up for the American people are being rewarded with our support.
Billy Dale was at the March for Justice. I walked over to him and waited for some time, but the woman who was talking to him had a lot to say. I finally just shook his hand and went back to my wife.I have to say that I agree with everything Aldrich is saying. But I also understand Rove wanting to take the opposite tack of taking Kerry's medals at face value but putting them in context. Kerry is milking them for far more than they are worth, even if his actions merited even more recognition than he got. Because no matter how valid the medals, the fundamental fact is that he got out of Dodge ASAP and plenty of other men did not. Anyone who re-upped after suffering a wound has evinced similar valor to his own.
When you are in over your head you tend to compensate. Kerry is running as the only war hero America has, and in doing so he has to patronize all other veterans, lest they seem as qualified for the presidency as his medals seem to make him. And as to a mere weekend warrior . . .
Only a snob could even think of trying it.
No one, even a reporter, is going to risk his reputation over a story that is proveably false.
