Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign was scrambling Monday night to deal with new charges that he fabricated claims he was dispatched to Cambodia during the Vietnam War.
Confronted by Fox News Channel's Carl Cameron over the top Democrat's earlier accounts that he was in Cambodia in Dec. 1968, the Kerry campaign at first denied their candidate had said any such thing.

This story has bigger legs than Senator Clinton!
sorry to be a bit heavy but I have been around long enough to wonder about 'extreme' posts---welcome aboard, in any event
Wonder if ketchup-boy has any alternative plans for next year....?
Rocked and scrambling... heheheh!! Photo-op that Pinochio JFK.
Don't know if you saw my post on another thread, but, Kerry told the WaPo last year-that not only did he go into Cambodia, but,he was part of a secret CIA mission.
Washington Post, June 1,2003
" John Kerry : Hunter, Dreamer, Realist "-Laura Blumenfeld
Tha last paragraphs of the piece. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59559-2003May30.html
" A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase.
He carries the black attache everywhere.
Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside.
Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open the case."
"My friends don't know about this."
" The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying."
"My good luck hat,Kerry said, happy to see it. "
" Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."
"Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead."
"He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun."
" He smiled and aimed his finger : " Pow."
Kerry is in a special LaLa Land, that even Gore wouldn't be able to get into.
is you were on kerry's campaign
what would you say about the cambodia lie?
it is going to be a fascinating answer- i guess the best answer is not to comment. Say he made the statement in good faith at the time. Nothing more.
There's no plausible explanation the Kerry campaign can come up with except that their candidate is a complete phony & fraud.
"Rocked" is putting it mildly. The Democrats don't know how to rebut the charges leveled against the Kerry campaign. At the moment, their partisans in the media are seeking to kill the messenger. I think it will fall flat. If Kerry knows the accusations are wrong, its a simple matter to release ALL his records to lay this to rest. He hasn't done it so far probably because he can't afford to tell the truth about his service in Vietnam - and the records won't back up his claims. No wonder his campaign is running panicked.
Do you have a link to that portion of Kerry's diary in which he confides WHERE he was on Christmas Eve, 1968? If I remember correctly, by his own words there, he was NOT in Cambodia.
About as dumb are his claims he was being shot at by Khmer Rouge and Cambodians. First, Khmer Rouge are Cambodians so not sure what he was inferring. If he was suggesting that he was being shot at by Cambodians who were NOT Khmer Rouge, while also being shot at by Khmer Rouge, then his lack of understanding of the situation on the ground in Cambodia is mind boggling. The man has a problem with the truth and lies for no apparent reason. Somewhat symptomatic of a socio-path.
HAHAHAHA, lost.. On a river. Only two ways to go, and he gets lost. Ok, he's not a liar, just the dumbest sailor in the world.
I knew just from that part of the headline that this article was not from the MSM (mainstream media)! They will never admit to Kerry's campaign being "rocked" by anything.
I'm afraid not, darn it! Sounds like a good one!
Hold the phone- I just ran across this--
If there is a consistent[ly] repeated story by John Kerry about his Vietnam experience, it is his story about how he and his boat spent Christmas Eve and Christmas of 1968 illegally present in Cambodia and, listening to President Nixon's contrary assurances, developed "a deep mistrust of U.S. government pronouncements." See Exhibit 24, Kranish book, p. 84. The point of his story was that his government and his commanders were lying about Kerry's presence in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. During a critical debate on the floor of the United States Senate on March 27, 1986, Senator John Kerry said:
Mr. President, I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the President of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia.
I have that memory which is seared -- seared -- in me . . . .
Exhibit 25, Congressional Record - Senate of March 27, 1986, page 3594.
