Speaker Hastert will be at
Barnes & Noblefrom 6:00 to 8:00 PM signing his book, Speaker: Lessons From Forty Years of Coaching and Politics.
12850 Memorial Dr.
Houston, TX
My good friend's husband works for the Speaker, and she said they were having a difficult time getting the word out about the signings. Apparently, thanks to CFR, the publisher, Regnery, is the only one who can put out mailings for this type of event. The RNC has mailing lists, but cannot give them to Regnery. The RNC could sell the lists to Regnery for "fair market value," but then would have to sell the lists to anyone who requested them, including MoveOn.org and the other freaks.
So if you could tell two friends, and they could tell two friends, and so on, and so on, it would be a great help.
The signings in Illinois have been crowded, but the ones out of state have been less hectic. So here's that opportunity to ask the Speaker himself what he thinks of CFR (hint -- he fought it for years, then sued to overturn it when the dems strongarmed the RINOs).
Do you know who has the Texas and New Mexico ping lists? I'm getting the book tour schedule tomorrow, and would like to put it up.
Could you help get the word out on this? Or, could you tell me who to ping?
Thanks!
Thanks.
I'm turning in for the night, but will check this thread tomorrow morning. I'll answer whatever questions I can, and the ones I can't I'll pass on to my friend (to give to her husband, to give to his boss, to give to the guys traveling with the Speaker . . .).
Thanks again. G'night.
I have to work tomorrow night. BUT, I just emailed this info!
I guess I should ask the admin moderators to change the title of this thread, since the signing is today.
I was half asleep when I posted this, and just now realized the title could be confusing.
I would like to see Rep. Hastert get some support for his recent comments about getting rid of the IRS and instituting a flat or sales tax.
I went, it seemed pretty thin though :(. Pretty much just walked right up and let my daughter meet him (she kept on saying "He shook my hand, I can still feel it" lol) and had him sign the book to her. We were there around 7pm.
Not many people are aware the Speaker has even written a book, and with the CFR restrictions against the RNC helping get the word out . . . well, it's like trying to sell pens without being allowed to say they contain ink.
I'm going to post the latest book tour schedule, and he's going to be in Albuquerque on Wednesday, Phoenix on Thursday, the Reagan Library on Friday, and the Nixon Library on Saturday, so if you have any friends/family/acquaintances there, by all means send 'em out.
COEXERJ145, thanks again for getting the announcement up on the Texas board. I have a feeling that's where a lot of people heard about this event.
