August 5, 2004. One of the other ads that the Club for Growth plans on releasing later this month is called Are You Rich? which talks about John Kerrys tax hike votes in the Senate. Let us know what you think about it before we purchase airtime.

Footage of Kerry on ski slopes. Words on screen: John Kerry says hell raise taxes, but only on the rich. Kerry on ski lift. Graphic on Kerry and higher taxes on gas, income, small businesses, home heating oil, and social security. Pop-up images of car, job, house, social security. Footage of Kerry with snowboard. Words on screen: Trouble is: he thinks you're rich. Club for Growth website and disclaimer. |
JOHN KERRY SAYS HELL RAISE TAXES -- BUT ONLY ON THE RICH. UH-HUH. IN THE SENATE, KERRYS VOTED FOR HIGHER GAS TAXES, HIGHER INCOME TAXES, HIGHER TAXES ON SMALL BUSINESSES, HOME HEATING OIL, EVEN HIGHER TAXES ON SOCIAL SECURITY. SO, IF YOU DRIVE A CAR, HAVE A JOB, HEAT YOUR HOUSE, OR GET SOCIAL SECURITY, JOHN KERRY HAS VOTED FOR HIGHER TAXES ON YOU. KERRY SAYS HELL ONLY RAISE TAXES ON THE RICH. TROUBLE IS: HE THINKS YOUR RICH. |

Sweet!!!
I wouldn't use footage of Kerry on the ski slopes. Too many middle-income Americans ski these days, so that no longer smacks of great wealth. And snowboarding is to a great extent the sport of teenagers. Better to show pictures of his numerous houses, private plane, and yacht.
If I were making this ad, I'd use pictures of his 5 (FIVE!) homes, huge yacht, etc. Most people own only one home (some none and some two perhaps, but 5?!).
Also, mentioning the costs of utilities, secret service protection for 5 homes, etc. and he thinks we are rich and we should pay these things for him.
Skiing is an expensive hobby, relatively speaking, but it is also one which MANY Americans can afford and enjoy. (I did when I was younger and lived where it snows.) I wonder if the ad as presented would anger those undecided skiers....
Bravo. 'bout time,
These vague and sappy Bush ads are useless (Being in the NYC market area and Bush probably isn't putting to much efort here, I'm hoping Bush has better ones showing around the country)
