in Cambodia" and "near Cambodia" were absolutely interchangeable back then when talking about my super-secret mission. Sort of like ribbons and medals--they can be used interchangably as well.

Did you sense Mara might have been trying to give the Kerry Campaign an excuse they could try? ("I thought I was in Cambodia before I thought I wasn't...")
To: All
Notice FOX is changing their tune on this. They must have checked this out and think it is big. This has legs.

If this is all there is, it won't kill the Kerry campaign.

I wonder what else he can recall this clearly. "Near" is stated with full awareness that he lied in the past. "Near" is the term that his writers hope will have "plausible deniability" and make his previous lie merely seem a slip of the tongue. The press will grab onto it.
Plus many, especially the young, don't know the political ramifications of having gone into Cambodia at the time.

I believe the person that Fred Barnes suggested to call is dead. He was the doctor's corpman, i.e. the guy who would do the paperwork. I believe that his name was something like Correa.

"I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared - seared - in me." Well Senator Kerry, since this memory is seared into you, could you please take this tack, and place it on this map to identify your location on December 25, 1968?

he's told so many versions of his story that I don't think he even knows the truth. SKerry seems as able to lie to himself as to the public.

I'm still reading the thread, but does anyone have Fox's email handy so I can add to the emails pointing out to them that Nixon was not President at Christmas 1968?
To: TomGuy
Even Mara Liason didn't go out on the limb to defend Kerry, although she did say words to the effect that Kerry lying about being in Cambodia is a lesser thing than his heroism in getting all those Purple Hearts. How many Iron Crosses did Hitler get in WWI? Still doesn't mean I'd vote for him!
