On the contrary, attacking ideas opposite to those which one holds is the basis for debate.
Free societies encourage intellectual exercises of this sort.
In democratic and free societies, you are allowed to have intellectual dialogue/conversation and all sort of talks.
But intellectuals won't ATTACK each other like that.
Another great example of the way liberals view conservatives and the world. Conservatives are only popular because we have the courage to take a stand against an enemy. Wars only exist only because conservatives are willing to fight them. The authors initial premise is that if one party refuses to engage in a war the war dosen't exist.
From there the article just gets silly.
The whole article might be looking silly to most of us but some US policies affect people around the world.
A simple example of this is what Carter did to Iran.
But intellectuals won't ATTACK each other like that.
As written, your comment is correct. But to be accurate, most (but not all) "intellectuals" are liberal cowards. I would not expect one to individually rise up and attack anything.
On the other hand, an experienced and well prepared debater will attack an opposing premise with a vengeance, intellectually shedding the position of his opponent whenever possible.
"Intellectuals" are dainty, debaters can be intellectually vicious.
Articles posted here are open to comments from all Freepers. Most will be inclined to attack pro islam propaganda. Not all will be nice about it. The adage of the heat in the kitchen certainly applies in this case.
I disagree & agree to some extent...
I don't label any one with a LIBERAL sticker. I respect his/her ideas, whatever they are. I try to prove the opposite.
And
You are allowed to debate as tough as you wish but intellectual people do not ATTACK.
Goes with the liberal need to give defense money to welfare programs. To do this they use the arguement that we are so big that we could not have enemies. If the conservatives invent international enemies, the liberal invent poverty and turmoil here at home. (Ref Thomas sowell, The Annoited) But there is always some truth and some subterfuge in these conspiracy theories.
Whether we helped or hindered the rise of fanitic Islam, it is clearly here now. (And I submit that what we did in the past seemed right at the time, although you have to take into consideration to whom it seemed right -- Carter clearly did not understand human nature.)
The usual arguement was that we put Israel into existance and everything stemed from that. All clearly a bunch of crap.
Very Good Article!!!!
LoL!
Definitely LOL!!!!
Thanks for the ping!
I guess this guy hasn't notice that there are no US colonies ANYWHERE. If we want oil, we buy it. All we want is to live our lives without being blown up. If we can accomplish that and at the same time free people who are living in oppresive countries, great.
Freedom ~ NOW!
That's silly. It's like saying "I don't label anyone a felon or a junkie".
If someone displays a behavior or belief system which clearly allows for an accurate categorization, to not do so is disingenuous.
I respect his/her ideas, whatever they are.
If someone espouses a philosophy which calls for the killing of my fellow patriotic Americans, or the parasitization of their hard earned wealth, I cannot and will not respect those ideas under any circumstances.
Moral relativism doesn't receive much support in this forum.
You are allowed to debate as tough as you wish
Damn right I am.
but intellectual people do not ATTACK.
That is an arbitrary and capricious statement which has no basis in fact.
What -- no BARF alert?
Is this Bro HammerOID?
HammerOID here!!!
