Isn't it Somalia that has one of the highest rates of female circumcision in the world? Unbelievable that this kind of barbaric ritual still exists anywhere in the world.

Yes. And I have heard rumors that this practice carry's on down in Lewiston.

http://islam.tc/ask-imam/index.php

This is an interesting website I found months ago. "Ask the Imam"...many subjects regarding Islamic life and following the writing of the Koran and other Islamic books. Some of the questions, especially under the heading "Women", are unbelievable to me! For example, apparently no eyebrow plucking, but NO hair allowed below the waist, either!

How these people (male and female both!) follow all of the laws is beyond me. And I guess one little slip and you're out of paradise for good.

I believe it. The US State Department originally was not going to let any Somalis in the country who had been mutilated. Then they reneged under pressure from Colin Powell, and let them in. (Probably because that would have ruled out most of the women.)

If they catch any of these people mutilating their daughters, they ought to lose parental rights *immediately,* and should be deported right back to the refugee camp pesthole where they came from.
