Picking Kerry's Cabinet
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | August 8, 2004 | Dateline DC

As most of us yawned our way through the self-serving speeches of the Democratic National Convention and the coast-to-coast tour of the two Johns who want to run Washington next year, a select few were energized. These energized ones -- partly sycophantic and largely opportunistic -- are wannabe Cabinet members. In Boston, we watched claimants for the same job avoid each other. To wit, Rep. Gephardt, beloved by the labor unions, was careful not to run into Bill Clinton's favored claimant for the same job, Alexis Herman.

Despite investigations of influence peddling, Herman has ended up with her own consulting group and highly paid jobs with Coca-Cola, Toyota and Cummins Engine. With great tact, or maybe cunning, she referred to Teresa Heinz Kerry and Elizabeth Edwards as "our queens, American-style!" So, perhaps Mr. Gephardt will end up jobless and running for president again in 2008.

I wish I thought that was out of the realm of possibility.

We will not have to worry about it because John Kerry will make Walter Mondale look like a serious contender after this election.

John Kerry does not have what it takes and even some of the liberals have come out and said so. Compare that to the support Bill Clinton had with the main stream press and also factor in the Perot factor and John Kerry does not even come close to having what it takes to unseat President Bush.

The far left will support John Kerry by percentages well above 90%, the problem John Kerry will have is the blue collar democrats who think much like Zell Miller, they like the Government handouts, but appreciate are freedom and security more.

Gee...no mention of Rand Beers, who has been Kerry's adviser on National Security.

Beers was known as "Dr. Evil," by the progressive human rights community when he worked at the State Department.

Senator Kerry's national security adviser had to take back comments he made under oath in 2002 to a federal court that members of a Colombian paramilitary group received training from Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

[snip][Beers] took the unusual step on November 27, 2001 of filing a declaration in favor of Dyncorp, the main contractor in charge of spraying defoliating agents on the coca crops grown in the Putumayo region of the country.

Dyncorp sought to have a court challenge brought on behalf of Ecuadorian farmers thrown out of court on national security grounds.

[snip]On this matter Mr. Beers, who coordinates the national security message for Mr. Kerry, may be guilty of the same thing his boss has accused President Bush of doing -- distorting intelligence to suit the goals of a specific policy.

Key Aide to Kerry amends Testimony Givien under Oath.
