Abuse hearing halted for female US soldier

FORT BRAGG, N.C., Aug 7 (Reuters) - A U.S. military court on Saturday temporarily halted a hearing to decide if Pfc. Lynndie England, the soldier photographed holding a naked Iraqi prisoner on a leash, should stand trial for abusing inmates at Abu Ghraib prison.

Lawyers for England asked hearing officer Col. Denise Arn for permission to call more than 50 additional witnesses, including some top U.S. government and military officials, after the court heard 25 witnesses over the first four days.

England was charged with 19 counts of prisoner abuse, committing indecent acts and disobeying orders in a scandal that shocked the Arab world and damaged the U.S. image during a bloody insurgency in Iraq last spring.

She faces up to 38 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Arn said she would take some time to consider if additional witnesses should be heard and gave no indication when England's hearing, which started on Tuesday, would resume.

Among the witnesses her lawyers want to call are U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, and Brig. Gen Janis Karpinski.

How many prisoners did Pfc. Lynndie England kill?

How many prisoners did she put in shredders?

How many prisoners did she dismember?

>>> Surprising answer tomorrow! <<<

Im no Lynndie England fan, but 38 YEARS! Sheesh!

She should get a year for every time the words "prison abuse scandal" apprears in print or is uttered on t.v. news.
Thanks to her and her buddies, the Dems/Liberal media have had a field day at the expense of the good people in uniform.

Remember, because of this little scumbag and friends, the US and Bush took a terrific beating. Bush's approval numbers could be 10 points higher if it wasn't for this "scandal". FRY HER!

I could care less if some Iraqi scumbags got paraded around on a leash. However, I am upset with her and her fellow soldiers because I believe what they did led to more American soldiers being killed.

That said, I think we should be asking ourselves how it is that these enlisted men and women were doing this without some sort of supervision by an officer. I wonder if they weren't just doing what they were, directly or indirectly, being encouraged to do by higher ups and/or military intelligence.

Beside the point

The question before the court is: Did Lynndie commit offences as defined by the UCMJ?

A different code of justice with different rules.

As for the disgrace this women and her general brought upon the Military Police Corps.

They need to pay the price as it will take a long time to remove the stain.

38 years somehow doesn't seem enough.

The question before the court is: Did Lynndie commit offences as defined by the UCMJ?

The real question is: Did Brigadier-General Janis Karpinski commit offences as defined by the UCMJ?

Military Political Correctness, however, precludes that question from being asked, so sacrificial grunts must be immolated in her place.

I wonder where the liberal weenies are now who were whining about how terrorists should not be tried under a military tribunal due to it's unfairness. Now we have an American (however despicable she may be) under trial and I don't hear a thing from them.

More transparent hypocrisy from the American hating left wing scum out there.
