"

OK, who's going to be the first to bitch and whine, "That does it! I'll never vote for Bush again!""

Just out of curiousity, do you think this is a good thing, or an outrage? Or neither?

I don't know what you're referring to by "this," so will assume you mean inviting international monitors. I think it stinks. I despise all those international busy bodies and proto-world government institutions — which, except for the UN, all somehow manage to get located in Europe (hint, hint).

Nevertheless, as things that stink go, this is a relatively minor annoyance. Assuming I'm still on the planet at the time, there is no way whatsoever that I will vote for anyone other than Bush-Cheney for president and VP come November.

"Just think about it...Bush is saying he can win even with people from other countries prowling around. "

That's what bothers me..."other countries prowling around."

We do not need other countries "prowling around."

Would you invite the neighborhood burglar into your home to show them you have nothing to hide? This move defies common sense.

Remember Campaign Finance reform? It was part of a "brilliant" strategy on Bush's part. Man, it was SMART. Anyone who couldn't see it just didn't understand what a master political gamesman Bush was.

So he signed the anti-Constitutional piece of legislation, smirked at the camera and said, "I'm sure the Supreme Court will strike it down."

FReepers everywhere high-fived each other and celebrated the genius of such a move...to take the issue "away" from the other side.

Well, the SC did NOT strike it down. And now the First Amendment does not mean the same thing as it did when the Founding Fathers wrote it. All part of a cute political shenanigan that backfired, and our Constitution will never be the same again.

I'm not willing for the powers that be to gamble away our freedoms like that, for the hope of political gain.

Who thinks that once the genie is out of the bottle (foreign oversight of our elections) that it will ever go away? It won't. It is a dangerous precedent, in my view, and I suspect it is done for the same reason as ever: cheap political pandering.

There was a day when there was not a doubt in my mind that this administration would always exercise sound judgment and do what was right for the U.S.

I'll leave it at that....

"I fear all this does is to invite international liars to a party of domestic liars to charge "the election was stolen!"

You can bet your last dollar this is in our future. No matter how "official" or "unofficial" this body is, the headlines will scream "World Agrees: U.S. Election Stolen"

I fail to see the wisdom in this.

"They will report what happens."

So they now have legitimacy.

We agree that this stinks.

And we will both vote for GWB in November.

Butr this kind of mind-boggling garbage tells me that Bush is not my idea of a great President. He astounds me sometimes.

Then vote for Nader....

Otherwise, be glad the President that you want in office is taking the fight to the Democrats and being proactive in taking away one of the bigger lingering issues from the previous election!!!

Ok predict gloom and doom and turn against the President you want in office over this issue. See if I care, because I don't.

People that scream and yell over every little trivial thing (like this announcement is) only give the left and the Liberals more ammo to use against you. But go ahead, say the world is going to end because we having people monitoring our election.....thats fine with me. You people make me sick....

I was one of the few who sang out of key with the choir, when Bush signed that campaign finance reform bill. I agree with your comments on both these issues, and for precisely the reasons you state.

In the year 2000 I stated that the republican party would be in a position to harm conservatism without opposition, if it were to win the 2000 election. At that time I supported Buchanan.

Today that forcast has been proven accurate on a number of levels.

This is not a hate filled diatribe against Bush, because I like Bush. That fact is, when a republican president holds office, if he doesn't adhere to conservative principles, he stands to make inroads a leftist could never hope to get through. What's more, he'll be applauded for it, just like Bush was for campaign finance reform.

We have no one to champion our cause on immigration reform, dismembering the National Education Association, the Department of Education, non-terrorims related spending out of control and on and on.

Thanks for your comments. They accurately address the political environment we face today.

Mike, if you're in Iraq I appreciate your efforts very much. Please don't confuse righteous indignation for not liking Bush. I'll be voting for Bush, but SerpentDove is precisely right. Don't hate someone who ultimate agrees with your goal of turning this nation toward conservatism, just because he's taking your guy to task on a valid point.

Good luck to you.

I know but when I posted that I was still a bit mad at B4Ranch for not seeing this for what it is....just a ploy to give the liberals a bit of their own medicine.

You want the elections monitored? Fine, I will invite them over to monitor them. It takes away some of the fire that group that has been clamoring for this away from them and it also shows that Bush is confident that he will win the election, monitored or not.

It is a good thing to take away this issue from the liberals who would use it as a rally point on people's emotions come late October (The Bushies will steal the election AGAIN!! Etc etc etc) and it isnt like we dont monitor their elections either.

Good news, bad news time...

Pres. Bush has two options.

The one I wish he chose is to throw out these monipulators out on thier fat behinds.

GN: US maintains sovereingty, higher chance of a Bush victory as the monipulators can't pull dirty tricks and discredit Bush votes.

BN: Endless whining and b!+ching from commies about stolen election, US has something to hide, Nazi Germany, ad nauseam.

The one he chose, allowing the monipulators access.

GN: Show ppl that US has nothing to hide. Build credibility for Bush and America.

BN: High possibility of fraud and manipulation from the monipulators.
