As beautiful as they are deadly, this is a picture of Hurricane Alex right at it's peak intensity as it churned SouthEast of Long Island.

Like you, I dislike the destruction they lash out, of course.

But what an awe inspiring sight they are from satellite.

Especially the loops. I spend way to much time looking at the NHC this time of year. And also will chase a big storm just to get a good pic.

Weather is fascinating.

Being that I am from Columbus Ohio I will sometimes go west of Town and chase tornadoes if they are there....its fun, but you do have to know what you are doing....

Yes it is. Hurricanes are very fun to watch I think. Especially when they are developing. Can you tell I grew up watching the Weather Channel? :)
