Actually, I was in Texas last year and had the best BBQ I had ever tasted.
Just north of San Antonio... "Rudy's" I think.

That place is world famous but, I must regretfully report, no longer what it once was due to key principals no longer with us. (I live near Huntsville and work right around the corner. Used to eat there at least once a week but not so much these days.)

Amen brother...haven't eaten there in years. Still remember the lady we called aunt Esther watching over us making sure we didn't smuggle ribs out the door for later. In college we call the place "The New Zion Missionary Baptist Church of the Immaculate Barbecue". Stubbs BBQ in Lubbock was pretty good too.
