Good Luck! I'm stuck out here too and I long for some good old Texas BBQ. Hell, they don't even know you can barbeque sausage in this state!
Leave the OC briefly, head north on the 405 to Long Beach Blvd, exit north, go about 1-2 miles up (past San Antonio and just before Del Amo) and on your left you will see Johnny Reb's. You will love it.
Great...? Still looking. In the very good category - try Wing-Nuts on Harbor just south of the 405. The ribs or wings are delicious with the whiskey sauce.
