I'm surprised we don't hear more about the parallel to the famous Gary Hart "Follow me around" challenge. Isn't that exactly what we hear John Edwards saying at the opening of the ad? "If you have any question about what John Kerry is made of, just spend 3 minutes with the men who served with him." Well, why aren't reporters asking?

Does anyone know If John Kerry (a confessed war criminal) would sign on the the International criminal court treaty?

You make a highly valid point. I hope this thread suggests to the Swift Boat Vets (who will certainly read this) to add the parallel to Gary Hart to their press releases. As you suggest, Kerry's featuring of his Vietnam "service" is an implied challenge to the press to do its job, just more subtle than Gary Hart's challenge to the press to "follow me around."
The only difference between the two is ease of taking the challenge. Following Hart to spot the bimbos was a simple matter, compared to the shoe leather reporting required to spot the lies from Vietnam. But the fact that some types of reporting require some serious work, is no excuse for the press to avoid such a subject.

Things were different then. Sure, the media was biased, we all knew that, but in this election cycle, the left-wing media has welded itself to the Kerry campaign in a desparate attempt to enable the Left to regain its power. If Kerry is beaten soundly in November, look for the press and the Left to become even louder and more shrill. The water, after all, runs fastest when it gets close to the drain.

Thanks!
Much of the news yesterday had to do with threats of lawsuits over the SwiftVets claims.
Here's an excerpt from a great article today:
"John Edwards said that all we have to do is ask anyone who served with John Kerry about his honor, and then we do, and then they get sued. Normally I might agree that taking an issue from over three decades ago and using it against a candidate today is a pretty lame smear. Like if three days before an election a twenty plus year-old DUI suddenly appeared in a little dusty box from a small rusty courthouse. But it is equally lame when you take an issue from over thirty years ago, wrap yourself around it, and run up and down Iowa like it is the only thing you have going for you." This is from http://www.dustinmhawkins.com
The threats of lawsuits are just another indication of the mentality of these two clowns who are presenting themselves as capable of defending America from the haters of freedom worldwide.

You give the press too much of a pass. They proved a ready willingness to chase down the obscure minutia of whether or not GWB attended reserve meetings. The Swift Boat Veterans have 60-some pages of documentation ready and waiting. The press could hound John Kerry for the release of his records just as easily as they did for GWB's records. The AP filed a FOIA request for GWB's records, why not for JFK's? NO, this isn't laziness unless you call it selective laziness. This is a baldfaced double standard.

you know, the whole 'lawsuit' bit could work in our favor. if the Johns get elected, VP Edwards could file a lawsuit against bin Laden, and when he shows up for court, WE NAB HIM!!!
it's bulletproof!

Good point! The press is a willing and active accomplice of the left, and is going out of its way to print proven lies and distortions, while comitting planned omissions. They are truly an accessory to the actions of the left, as they prove daily in print.
They should get NO PASS. And Washington is guilty of giving their biased partisanship a boost with the so-called "Campaign Reform" which gave them license to flag their favorite liberal party, at will, while legally ignoring the right...after the candidates can no longer take out ads to defend and present their positions.

You are joking of course. Bin Laden does not do things like laws and courts, he does bombs and guns.

And by the way, thank you for posting the article and for responding to my post. As you can see, I'm a bit passionate on the subject and for a moment forgot my manners.
Nonetheless, the bias that is so obvious in the treatment of GWB's service versus JFK's service is striking.

As I recall, Kerry preferred to be the first (or second) debater, so he could boldly state his points. Typical.
Thank you John. Great article as always.

And thats one more reason why John Kerry shouldnt wind up in the White House. Hes a wuss. Which is why the "international community" wants him there: A Kerry presidency would make it easier to loot America and the world.

Out of either arrogance or ignorance, Kerry did not anticipate the reaction that his Vietnam-centric speech would generate. I vote for arrogance.
Also he was totally enclosed in the "Boston" culture, who think like he does (in their isolated enclave of wacky elitism). Talking only to "yes" men can lead to unreal views of the world (another reason he should not be commander-in-chief).
Also the poodle liberal press does him a disservice by letting him think that he can walk on water and get away with it.
And finally the Bush campaign is so very good at letting the opposition go way out on a branch and then cutting it off.
