(CNN) -- A drop in so-called "chatter" among suspected terrorists is troubling some counterterrorism officials, who noticed a reduction in intercepted communications before the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, government sources said.

This might mean they have something planned for the Olympics. That's probably going to be a much easier target than the Republican Convention later this month.
And today's question is: When will we ever get control of our borders?
From everything I've seen, anyone who goes to the Olympics is insane. A Greenpeace boat could knock out the security in Athens.
Obviously they must have heard Howard Dean state that this was all politically motivated and then said to one another:

It's too late for that. If that was their plan, they are likely already in: men, materiel, explosives, biotoxins, isotopes, what have you. It is here, it could be anywhere. In a cargo truck, a FedEx van, an illegal alien landscaping truck.
We had a chance, a brief chance, post-9/11. But we utterly failed to protect our boundaries. God help us, I hope we got lucky and stopped whatever they had planned.
I'm convinced that Athens will be hit. NYC will be locked down tighter than a drum during the RNC Convention week. Athens, otoh, will be an easy target. AQ will try to kidnap athletes and hold them hostage. They will try to get the people in Gitmo released. Lots of media coverage w/o the propaganda drawback, plus the Eurotrash will put pressure on Bush to cave.
That's my call. It makes sense from AQ's point of view.

Me, too. Chatter slowdown worries me more than anything else.
The Republicans are just as responsible here as the democrats, with the exception that at least the republicans are not obvious anti-American traitors.
The majority of us here are not counter terrorism experts my self included, but I think they either about to strike or temporarily found a way to communicate with out us being able to intercept their messages in the wake of catching that that geek on the 13th of July. Either this doesn't bode well, but I'm sure we can take what ever they got shove it back down their throats.
You are right on the money.
I suspect the American team will be too closely guarded, so they will hit the Italian, Polish and English teams.
Over there we are hanging tough. Here I worry.
