Uh, Fox has actual "reporters", I assume and I don't think it would take too much legwork to confirm or debunk the story. Unless one's copy writers are just pulling stories off the wire services. We expected more from Fox and they aren't delivering.
Personally, though, I think that the Bush-Cheney campaign has made an ironclad decision not to use Kerry's Vietnam "service" as an issue. And this makes sense. Despite what they may say publicly, Bush has the most to lose if the military service of the candidates becomes a big issue in the election. And strategically speaking, there is plenty of baggage Kerry has built up over the past 30 years since he got out of the Navy which will make for good campaign fodder.
But it still doesn't explain why the likes of Fox are trying to scuttle the swifties' story. First, regardless of what the BC campaign may want, these vets have the right to say what they please (provided it's true). Secondly, regarding the news media's response to all of this, how hard is it check out the vets' allegations? Whatever happened to investigative reporting? Either the allegations are true, or they are not. How hard it is to determine which it is? Send a camera crew to each vet in the ad and get them to tell their story. Barring that, ask Kerry and/or the Navy to release all of Kerry's military records. I mean, isn't this what journalists are suppose to do?! I have the sick feeling that their refusal to look into these allegations will turn out to be the news media's darkest hour during this campaign.
Same here.
Fox errs on the side of appearing "balanced," meaning they seem to make a conscious effort to appease the left.
They've been so doom and gloom about Bush's chances for reelection that I've been turning them off.
It's too early to be "doom and gloom" no matter which campaign you support.
Thanks for the links!
What the?? Fox is not fair and balanced. They try, but fail in the big picture. They do sometimes voice our side; but not nearly fair and balanced.
With all the Leftist Media, I wish we had ONE Right-wing TV station. Not gonna happen.
What I'd really like is a truly fair and balanced station. Fox ain't it. They lean to the Left too, on big issues like Kerry and Swift Boat Veterans. Bahh!
Exactly, and it's not that I don't understand or worry that Bush could lose, but it's getting to be at bit much. Even Brit Hume's show has gone downhill.
Right. So even though the instinct of FNC might be to go to the mat for the swifties, they pull back.
The Amazon.com page has him as the author...
Also, Savage is expressing his disappointment with Fox News, specifically O'Reilly, for spiking this story and essentially calling the veterans liars. Savage says it's because O'Reilly wants to get John Kerry on his show.
And it has cowed them into joining the MSM. FoxNews sucks now - I watch it about 5 minutes a week. I'm just a drop in the ocean, but sooner or later they will fall. And the new "friends" will be the first to cheer their demise.
And CNN is under savage attack by the right, as they should be. Who cares what the left thinks? FOX has become the leader because of what the right (and mainstream) think. Screw the left. The more FOX stays on course, the better FOX does. Personally, I'm tuning out of FOX more and more.

So why not call them up or e-mail them? I think a lot of people are doing that. If FOX wants to be an alphab, let its audience tell them that's not why they watch FOX.
