Just what will it seal?

I don't know. I'm a very new user.

I'm using opera and it's ok, but I keep sneaking back to IE. I thought that the last round of hotfixes were collectively known as SP2. I thought that because the instructions to fix a problem I'm having getting it to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard said to uninstall SP2.

I dont knowww, I dropped IE a couple of months ago because of the barrage of spyware popup ads and all the junk that somehow would find its way to my puter.

I run IE; keep anti virus, Google tool bar, Spybot and Zone Alarm updated.

Last three spyware scans have come up 100% clean.

If you have the basics covered, you actually have to give permission for the bugs to get in. I think that is what a lot of folks do, biting on any number of lures.

But I could be wrong.

no POP ups at all.

Pop-ups? What is "pop-up"?

Oh, yeah - I remember them before I loaded the Google toolbar, them annoying little screens that appeared. I had almost forgot.

Thanks for the memory.

Yes I am! Still walk two hours a day and I'm waiting for the Microsoft version of the iPod to come out so I can carry twice as many tunes at half the price! I currently take an iRiver MP3 player on the road with me but I get bored with it easily. Sirius (satellite radio) on a walkman would be nice. I wonder if Microsoft is planning on buying Sirius and giving XM a run for their money.

Do secure sites recognize its security? I usually used Opera when I am on Free Republic, becaus it can handle multiple windows on one browser session. If I try to log into my bank's wesite or Yahoo! mail website, I get a message saying that my browser is not compatible.

Try the Avant browser. I absolutely love it, and 100% of the people I've shown it to have become instant converts as well.

It's 100% compatible with IE, because it's basically a code layer "on top of" the IE browser, but it adds to many features (including tabbed windows inside a single browser session) that it feels like a whole new browser. And it's *fast*. It also has built-in popup blocking, ad blocking, search bar (customizable to any search site you choose, including Google), built-in language translation, one-click ability to turn on/off various functions (like the popup blocker, script processing, ActiveX, applets, sounds, etc.), the ability to open all websites in user-definable "groups", menu items to clear any/all "paper trails" (like visited websites, etc.) and more. It's fantastic.

"If we weren't viewing this as such a key priority, then we wouldn't be giving it away as a free thing," Gates said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Oh, Bill, I am truly grateful for your caring about me!

My web site uses a user called popup to display photos. Firefox does not interfere with those. It only blocks popups called by scripts within the html page. It does not interfere with the "target=" standard html command. These are activated by a mouse user click and are assumed to be wanted windows. It does block the mouseover popups and javascript popup windows. It has made surfing foxsports endurable for me again, as they always have some stupid poll popup that hangs half way through.

FWIW, here's a link to the symantec security site, that will scan your PC or Mac for virus vulnerabilities and spyware.

All of the network services at my company have been messed up this week. We have a nation-wide network, with services distributed all around the country.

The internet browsing servers, the Outlook servers, PeopleSoft and others have all been hit and knocked out at various times this week by viruses and worms. These are the servers being attacked, not desktops.

Corporate IT is once again looking at ways to limit the damage, including spending the money to replace the MicroSoft servers.

Gates had best do something quick for a change, rather than just talk about doing something.

It wont. :-) I am running the beta version of SP2 right now. Love it.

What does it do in those cases where the web site is trying to force a pop up window based on the user selection?

It gives you the option of allowing the popup :-)

This thread is getting bookmarked. I've been hassling with all the bugs on my pc for a few weeks now. The links will come in handy, when I overcome my fear of non Microserf products.

I still have 23 running programs. Norton will not load live update. In addition to Norton, I run AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. Obviously I cannot take a chance and use my debit card online for purchases.
