Sounds like the Stryker sucks people have suffered a setback.
Several of the reservations I had about the vehicle have been resolved. They've been in country 8 months and the best report of Strykers in combat is a soldier's blog.

No vehicle is invulnerable (although the M1A2 SEP comes damn close), but the 3/2 Strykers at the point of the spear seem to be holding their own. He makes an excellent point about trying to short-track an M113 in an ambush situation.

We also had the Chaplain walking around yesterday, checking up on us and available for us just in case we wanted somebody to talk to. There was no need for me to talk to him, I did enough talking to god the other day. Whew. After reading this account, I think I'll spend a little moment myself in prayer for these bravest of the brave.

He also informed us that the people that were wearing all black were actually insurgents from Iran, members of Al Qaeda. Funny how this never gets mentioned by the "mainstream" press. Attackers wearing all black? Very creepy, but at least it was thoughtful of them to identify themselves. And I'm sure they looked lovely in black when they were laid out.
