August 6, 2004 -- Despite enormous pressure from Democratic and pro-Kerry sources (including DNC and Kerry lawyers), only one TV station has caved in, deciding not to run the blistering anti-Kerry ad produced by the Swift Vote Veterans for Truth. The now well-known ad counters Sen. Kerry's Vietnam "War Hero" status. The sole station to refuse the advertisement from the 527 group is WBAY, ABC Channel 2, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a key battle state.
In an interview with HUMAN EVENTS, WBAY President and General Manager Don Carmichael confirmed that the station will not be running the ad "on advice of counsel."
Pressed on the substance of their lawyers' advice, Mr. Carmichael stated that after reviewing the affidavits of the veterans, seeing the commercial, and hearing the pro-Kerry "counter-claims," his station decided to refuse the ad.
Mr. Carmichael declined to elaborate on the "counter-claims," including whether the threatening letter from DNC and Kerry lawyers or todays Boston Globe article were among those claims. Carmichael also stated that the station does not plan to review its decision.
To air your views on WBAYs decision to ban the ad, call them at 920-432-3331 or email them at wbay@wbay.com.
Gee, what about the Ohio station?
I wonder if they're running any moveon.org or similar anti-bush ads?
hmmm......it's an ABC station. like the one in Ohio.
I bet they ran the commercial for MM's movie of lies. It didn't seem to bother them.
Looks like Kerry's Band of Lawyers lacks clout. Perhaps they should disband.
At this point, it really doesn't matter if they cave or not. It's all over the internet for everyone to see.
Mark Levin told one of the vets on his show yesterday that if anyone comes after him legally, Mark will defend him "for free."
Rumor has it that the Ohio station changed positions after getting copies of various affidavits from the Veterans and finding out the Globe story was faulty.
No, this makes 3 that have caved. Two others were in Toledo and Dayton, OH. Dayton, apparently has flipflopped and is now showing the ad again.
thanks for the word.
I think I might call that station and see what their official stance is.
I will post it hear...and on the other thread about the Ohio station.
According to Drudge, WTVG-TV, ABC 13 in Toledo, Ohio also dropped the ad. I sent them an email telling them they were duped. This was the address I sent it to wtvg.webmaster@abc.com.
The Kerry Campaign/DNC's "Kristallnacht Campaign" to squash freedom of speech appears not to have been very successful.
I disagree. Not every voter has a computer or net access.
Cheese-eating surrender media.
If these stations don't change their tune then call all their advertisers and explain why you can no longer buy their products. Also advise the station of your contacting the advertisers. Don't just say it, do it.
DONE:
GREETINGS,
About the nicest thing I can say is:
IF your terminally wimpy response to the duplicitous threats of the DNC atnys is any clue of the courage of America to survive,
then
we may as well surrender our sovereignty and way of life to the UN and the tyrannical satanic world government and puppet masters now.
God have mercy on you and your soul. You seem to have already sold your soul to the devils of appeasement, lies and traitorous, Machiavellian duplicity.
You have certainly lost all support and patronship from me.
Sincerely,
