This confirms that the Kerry camp is in major panic mode.
This denial of a denial sounds like voting for it before voting against it.
Kranish has been discredited as a pro-Kerry shill but its all there on page 102 of his OWN book about Kerry having shot a kid in the back while on tour in Vietnam. So its not just a bunch of pro-Bush partisans making it all up. The media is in hot war for not asking Kerry the tough questions, like it asked tough questions about President Bush's National Guard service.

Okay............
Then the guy is an out and out LIAR!
He AND kerry!
Can't wait for the retraction of the denial of the retraction!
It sounds to me like Elliott intended to retract only the assertion that Kerry shot the VC in the back. And if that assertion was not based on his own firsthand knowledge, but on what he'd heard from other people, he's right: he shouldn't have signed it.
JM Stein7 has a great thread that goes along with your thread:

Tell The Boston Globe: FIRE Reporter Mike Kranish for Conflict of Interest (Swift Vets)

If you havent heard yet, read the following from Drudge:
BOSTON GLOBE 'REPORTER' PAID TO WRITE CAMPAIGN BOOK FORWARD WHILE COVERING KERRY
BOSTON GLOBE reporter Mike Kranish made waves on Friday by reporting "a key figure in the anti-Kerry campaign, Kerry's former commanding officer, backed off one of the key contentions."
But Captain George Elliott claims the Kranish article is "extremely inaccurate" and highly misstated his actual views.
Oddly, journalist Kranish has been commissioned to write the forward of the official Kerry-Edwards campaign book -- just as he is covering the campaign in an official capacity as a journalist for the BOSTON GLOBE!
This conflict of interest is outrageous! This is a plain case of journalistic malpractice.
Call and email the Globe today tell them to remove Kranish from the campaign coverage and/or FIRE him!

I was meaning kranish and kerry. Not Captain Elliott.
His reputatoin has been maligned by kranish.
The BOSTON GLOBE reporter who did this story is a PAID hack of the KERRY campaign. He is also a biographer of Kerry and will be doing the campaign book on Kerry Edwards..... due out shortly. Of course he maintains he is NOT BIASED!!
"I actually did deny it before I retracted it."
Er, okay...
The book "Unfit For Command" will be the nail in the political coffin for Ketchup Kerry...
he won't even be able to cut in line at Starbucks after the book is released next week!
"Traitors to the end of the line, junior..."
People, start buying copies of Kranish's book before they disappear like the New Soldier one! If the information on page 102 in Kranish's book is correct, then you can bet the Dems will pull the book off the market.

This is a clear violation of the Society for Pressional Journalists Code of Ethics:
"Act Independently Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other than the public's right to know. Journalists should: Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived. Remain free of associations and activities that may compromise integrity or damage credibility. Refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment, and shun secondary employment, political involvement, public office and service in community organizations if they compromise journalistic integrity. Disclose unavoidable conflicts. Be vigilant and courageous about holding those with power accountable. Deny favored treatment to advertisers and special interests and resist their pressure to influence news coverage. Be wary of sources offering information for favors or money; avoid bidding for news."
Kranish is outrageous.....he violated lots of these just by writing the book.
So is this just an example of a Kerry fan in a position to do so using his position to counteract a story even if he has to lie to do it?
An awful lot of people were bailing on the Swiftvets on a different thread that posted Kranish's original article.
Let us not be too "swift" to bail on these guys. You know that the liberal media is going to throw the kitchen sink at them.
Kranish should do what Peggy Noonan announced yesterday she was doing: take a leave of absence from his job with the Globe.
It's the only honorable thing to do!
If he's working for the Kerry/Edwards ticket, then he should not be masquerading as an objective "reporter" or journalist for the Globe or any other newspaper.
The reporter is from the Kerry camp. He is writing a book for Kerry.
Look, it seems this reporter may have edited some words around. Its not hard to do. You can even tape record a conversation...and edit the tape...and try and use it as back up. The NYT, Dallas Morning News, Alanta Journal Const., and others have been busted for doing just that.
The Reporter does not even have to show a tape to try and save his neck for lying about an interview. The Globe can simply print a retraction buried way in the back pages and, to an extent, cover themselves legally.
I think the reporter intentionally misrepresented the interview. He works for the Kerry Goons.
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING FOLKS. THE LIBS IN THE MEDIA ARE IN TOTAL PANIC MODE. The Swifties present a thermo-nuclear punch to the Kerry campaing. And the MSM, with guidance from the dems and their PACs, are gonna do everything they can to paint a false picture about the Swiftes.
That should be no shock to us.
