It gives the stations a plausibly deniable way to "not" choose sides...

Trial lawyers, like John Edwards, threaten to sue anyone who speaks against them. Welcome to Democrat's Amerika.

Thanks for that info. I grew up in that area and Dayton is as leftist as they come. They have one of the worst newspaper in America IMO and their local news broadcast are nothing to brag about when I have been back at my Mom's.

Register a FCC complaint that the station is using unequal standards in vetting political advertisements, thereby denying equal access to the airwaves allocated to that station. If they want to verify truth (YES, FINALLY!!!) then moveon.org might as well fold up shop. It has to apply to ALL.

It's not a "double standard". It's a single standard: liberal media enablers.

WDTN-TV Dayton's GM went on the air this morning and insisted that his station would NOT air the ad until they could "verify" the truth of the statements in the ad.I am sure they vetted the James Byrd ad of 2000, right?
Behold! The profits of intimidation

on o'reilly last night, the toe sucker dick morris said these ads had the potential to hurt bush because no one really wants to go back to vietnam anyway, and because they will all bring up the national guard issue with bush, so at least kerry served, they will say. lots of broadcasters today think that it might be unwise to pursue, partly because people react strongly to personal attacks that are THIS personal.
personally i think we have a right to know if a man's character is this bad, but i don't want to do anything that will hurt bush either.

I think the Pubs are publically distancing themselves from this ad. What is being done privately, I wish I knew.

I called to complain and was transfered around quite a bit. FInanlly got a nice young man that said he knows they ARE airing the ad today. HE didn;t know about what the GM said but said it would be the GM's call.

just called the station to "bitch" and the gal said that due to the high volume of complaints that the manager has decided to run the ad after all. way to go freepers!
To: mhking
I won't even listen to the news now when I go back for a visit. I should ask my Mom but I know a lot of GM has moved out -- wonder if the liberals and their crackpot environmental policies got those older plants closed that costs jobs in Dayton.
