Between the DNC lawyer squads, and the willingness of The Media, this will be down the Memory Hole just like the Kerry Sex Scandal - remember THAT one?

The wound was covered with a band-aid

LOL!!!
Great poster material to Freep Kerry!
A big picture of a band-aid (Disney characters, of course) and the words:
"This is for Kerry's Purple Heart wound!"

Schachte berated Kerry for almost putting someone's eye out.

"Put that M-79 down NOW, Johnny! You could put someone's eye out!"

Response to Senator John McCain

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 members, many of whom were wounded or highly decorated in Vietnam.
We purchased with our blood and service the right to be heard, to set the record straight about our unit, and to tell the truth about John Kerry's military service record.

We respect Senator McCain's right to express his opinion and we hope he extends to us the same respect and courtesy, particularly since we served with John Kerry, we knew him well and Senator McCain did not.

-- Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann (ret.), Founder and Chairman of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

When it first broke here on FR I thought...HOLY S****, this is devastating for Lurch, and someone made the comment that the spin by the rats and presswhores would be so fierce that this would turn against the pubs. I'm beginning to think this poster was right about the backlash! We can't compete against the POWER of the PEN=mediaWHORES! One of the swift guys has retracted himself from the ad...probably his family were threatened. ANYWAY, be prepared for the backlash. McVAIN made it more difficult for the SWIFT guys to get the truth out! BUMMER :[

I could not believe that Bill O'Reilly called the Swift boat ad a "viscious attack". That is BS. What has he said about all the liberals who call GW a liar, compare him to hitler, etc.?

The ad was tasteful, truthful, and low-key. John Kerry is a traitor and so is John "I want on Kerry's Presidential Cabinet" McCain.

John Kerry, John Edwards, John McCain "Axis of evil" or "trinity of terror"

So now the Dems are pissed off and want to keep the TV and radio folks from selling ad time. Hmmmmmm. Don't recall the Repubs trying to stop Mickey Moore's movie ads... don't recall the Repubs trying to sue the sKerry campaign for slander regarding the presidents honorable service in the Guard. Hmmmmmm... And now, ONLY these swift boat vets working with sKerry are ones to be believed, and the guys against him are gutter rats? Hmmmmm... this is going to be one hell of firestorm for sure. Sen McCain has lost all of my respect. These new swift boat vets for truth have EVERY RIGHT TO BE HEARD!!!

I've got this creepy, sickish inner feeling that Kerry has purposefully and successfully turned the national debate from his senate record to his war wounds......and from Iraq to Viet Nam.

At least I know the President's campaign isn't falling for this.

With a Democratic convention that focused heavily on Kerry's war record

And if HE hadn't brought up the subject, these guys probably wouldn't have been so pi$$ed!

I wonder, can you get a Purple Heart for shooting yourself in the foot?

The Democrats have outsmarted us if we allow them to promote their candidate by what he did in a short FOUR MONTHS 30+ years ago. That is a clever bait which the Republicans have taken hook, line, and sinker.

HIS LIBERAL VOTING RECORD IN THE U.S. SENATE SPANNING 20 YEARS should be the primary measure by which he is judged.

Isn't it amazing that the same Democrats (including Kerry) who INSISTED that military service (let alone so-called "heroism") didn't make a bit of difference with Bill Clinton are now making that service the centerpiece of their glorification of Kerry?

Conservatives can be such chumps in taking this bait.

John Kerry must not be allowed to sidestep:

- the voting record he has amassed as a Radical Left US Senator,
- his lack of sponsorship of any significant legislation,

- his participation in only 11 of 49 Senate Intelligence Committee hearings.

Were that record hammered over and over again, how many Americans would believe he is serious about either intelligence gathering or defense of America?

Let's get off their bandwagon. Laugh at their insistence that, after Clinton, they dare to use military service as a measure of a leader, and get on with campaigning against the lack of leadership he has shown for the last 20 years of his life, for heaven's sake!!!!

Let me know if I've got this right. J F'n K's three purple hearts were for the following:

1) Self-inflicted shrapnel wound because he fired an M-79 into a rock at point blank range;

2) Rice in the butt;

3) Bruise on shoulder caused from him hightailing it away from a fellow Swiftboat that had been hit by a mine.

"The television ad brought a swift response from Kerry's presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee. On August 5, two lawyers representing the campaign and the Democratic National Committee, sent a letter to television station managers, which was first revealed here at Human Events Online,

"claiming some statements in the ad were "demonstrably and unequivocally false, and libelous" and darkly warning station managers that if they ran the ad their stations would be "responsible for the false and libelous charges made by this sponsor." "

This gang of lawyers better tread carefully considering these charges, they just may end up on "COURT TV" with a libel suit against themselves....

and they would be spending Hillry's money!!!!

Now this is a TRIAL I could get into watching!!!!!

One more comment on the need to refocus and get off the Democrats' bandwagon on Vietnam:

George Will just posed the following important questions which John Kerry should be forced to address:

"The Clinton years were, you say, glorious because "we were not at war and young Americans were not deployed." Did not the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, followed by the attacks on the Khobar Towers, the USS Cole and the East African embassies mean we were at war but were uncomprehending? Have not scores of thousands of young Americans been deployed, ashore and on ships, since 1942?

"You supported humanitarian military interventions in Somalia, the Balkans and Haiti. Would you intervene militarily to stop the accelerating genocide in Sudan?

"You say, "I stood up and fought against Richard Nixon's war in Vietnam." NIXON's war? Did it start after John Kennedy put U.S. combat troops there, and after Lyndon Johnson increased the number to 500,000?

"The easily distressed abortion rights groups were distressed when you said that your faith teaches you what elementary biology teaches everyone: life begins at conception. But you say personhood does not. Fine. When does it? What are its defining attributes? Does, say, an elderly person with dementia have it, and hence a right to life?

"You oppose, on federalism grounds, a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. You say marriage law is traditionally a state responsibility. But so was abortion law for the Republic's first 197 years, until 1973. What is the difference?

"When the Pope said Catholic legislators have a duty to oppose gay marriage, you said he had "crossed the line" because "it is important not to have the Church instructing politicians." Have you felt that way even when the Church has instructed politicians take liberal positions regarding economic justice, race and other matters?"

GET OFF VIETNAM!! It's a red herring! Force him to confront his 20-year record and his failure to provide leadership SINCE HE'S BEEN AN ADULT, not 30+ years ago. Put the hard questions to him as posed by George Will.

As long as the Dems can paint him as another scorned Vietnam veteran, they win. If he's examined by his statements and actions over the last 20 years, he loses.
