Schachte berated Kerry for almost putting someone's eye out.

"Put that M-79 down NOW, Johnny! You could put someone's eye out!"

Response to Senator John McCain

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 members, many of whom were wounded or highly decorated in Vietnam.
We purchased with our blood and service the right to be heard, to set the record straight about our unit, and to tell the truth about John Kerry's military service record.

We respect Senator McCain's right to express his opinion and we hope he extends to us the same respect and courtesy, particularly since we served with John Kerry, we knew him well and Senator McCain did not.

-- Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann (ret.), Founder and Chairman of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

When it first broke here on FR I thought...HOLY S****, this is devastating for Lurch, and someone made the comment that the spin by the rats and presswhores would be so fierce that this would turn against the pubs. I'm beginning to think this poster was right about the backlash! We can't compete against the POWER of the PEN=mediaWHORES! One of the swift guys has retracted himself from the ad...probably his family were threatened. ANYWAY, be prepared for the backlash. McVAIN made it more difficult for the SWIFT guys to get the truth out! BUMMER :[

He is simply saying that when he reviewed the the document he signed he didn't cross out where it said that Kerry shot the Viet Cong in the back. He wasn't there and didn't know. He doesn't personally believe that any of his men would do such a thing.

He should of crossed the sentence out before faxing it back and this would not be an issue now.

There is enough others saying what they actually saw.

This is bad news, but if they jump on it quickly and he continues to tell the rest of his story, they could recover from this.

"but what's up with this story?"

Simple...someone got to Elliott...

If the VC was running away from Ketchup and Ketchup shot him then he obviously "shot him in the back"...

None of this is as important as the fact that Ketchup lied before the Senate committe and on television about "mass atrocities"! He betrayed fellow Viet Nam veterans and their families. And that's the bottom line!

Now we can argue all day about the medals which have a fishy odor to them especially the Purple Hearts but Kerry is a lying traitor and all the "spin" in the world won't change that!

I could not believe that Bill O'Reilly called the Swift boat ad a "viscious attack". That is BS. What has he said about all the liberals who call GW a liar, compare him to hitler, etc.?

The ad was tasteful, truthful, and low-key. John Kerry is a traitor and so is John "I want on Kerry's Presidential Cabinet" McCain.

John Kerry, John Edwards, John McCain "Axis of evil" or "trinity of terror"

"I served with these guys. I went on missions with them, and these men served honorably. Up and down the chain of command there was no acquiescence to atrocities. It was not condoned, it did not happen, and it was not reported to me verbally or in writing by any of these men including Lt.(jg) Kerry.

In 1971, '72, for almost 18 months, he stood before the television audiences and claimed that the 500,000 men and women in Vietnam, and in combat, were all villains -- there were no heroes. In 2004, one hero from the Vietnam War has appeared, running for President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief. It just galls one to think about it."

It only shows that they (the Swiftees) touched a raw nerve.

The reasons the Demos and their lib lawyers are playing Clintonian Hardball is that they know we are on to something, and they are quite frankly shittting in their pants about it. This is a dead on sign that we have smoked them out.

I just got my call to John McCain returned.

I could tell that the young intern on the phone agreed with me when I questioned why McCain would call 250 Vietnam Vets dishonest and dishonorable, but call Kerry, who is a admitted war criminal a hero?

She said that I would not believe how many calls were coming in.

Any who have not called or emailed need to.

Which Swift Boat vet retracted from the ad? I don't recall that happening. Source, please?

So now the Dems are pissed off and want to keep the TV and radio folks from selling ad time. Hmmmmmm. Don't recall the Repubs trying to stop Mickey Moore's movie ads... don't recall the Repubs trying to sue the sKerry campaign for slander regarding the presidents honorable service in the Guard. Hmmmmmm... And now, ONLY these swift boat vets working with sKerry are ones to be believed, and the guys against him are gutter rats? Hmmmmm... this is going to be one hell of firestorm for sure. Sen McCain has lost all of my respect. These new swift boat vets for truth have EVERY RIGHT TO BE HEARD!!!

I was talking to a friend of mine last night about this. He's a Vietnam vet. He said he doesn't give a sh*t about any of it. Kerry's medals don't concern him because everyone knows that the medal giving stuff was all political anyway. And he said he wasn't impressed with Kerry's actions in Vietnam because they were the same as anyone that was there. Everyone had to pull a buddy out of the water and out of harm's way. Everyone fighting was doing the same stuff that Kerry claims he was doing. In other words, Kerry wasn't any different than anyone else and this war hero crap is a bunch of BS.

Having said all that though, he would prefer that we just stop talking about Vietnam. The war was 30 years ago and it's time to just drop it. What he's interested in is who's the most capable to fight the war we are in now and that's, unquestionably George W. Bush.

I tend to agree with him. I'm so sick of hearing about VIETNAM. And I'm so sick of the stupid baby boomers - and I'm one of them; although at the very tail end (1960 DoB). It's like no one has gotten beyond it and that what happened in the 60s and the 70s was the greatest thing in the world. Personally, I think the Baby Boomers are so the most self-absorbed generation and I'm sick to death of them.

And finally, I think it's pretty sickening on Kerry's part to continually bring his Vietnam service to focus. Sheesh...Bob Dole didn't do this with WWII, neither did George HW Bush. Kerry's the epitome of that generation - ME, ME, ME. I'm wonderful; don't you admire me? Pfffttttt...

I've got this creepy, sickish inner feeling that Kerry has purposefully and successfully turned the national debate from his senate record to his war wounds......and from Iraq to Viet Nam.

At least I know the President's campaign isn't falling for this.
