August 6, 2004 -- LONDON An alleged al Qaeda operative under arrest in Britain is suspected of writing the surveillance documents that sparked terror alerts in the United States this week, an official said yesterday. The documents, about five buildings housing U.S. financial institutions, were found on the computers of two accused members of Osama bin Laden's terror network arrested in Pakistan last month. The computers also held images of London's Heathrow Airport, Pakistani intelligence officials said. That information was passed to British officials.
The revelations link two major sweeps against suspected al Qaeda networks in Pakistan and Britain as well as the alerts announced Sunday in New York, New Jersey and Washington.
At least 20 people have been detained in Pakistan in the past month, and Britain is holding 12 men from raids on Tuesday.
Among those arrested in Britain was a senior al Qaeda member, known as Abu Eisa al Hindi or Abu Musa al Hindi, who the official said is suspected of writing the surveillance reports detailing security, construction and other features of the five U.S. financial buildings.
A counterterrorism official, speaking on the condition of anonymity this week, said many of the documents, including surveillance reports, were in fluent English, indicating the author spent significant time in the West.

This is serious cr*p people... This may have been what they wanted to do during the convention......
Will America really go to the voting booth to put in a new guy like Kerry at such a critical moment in history...?
I just can't believe it...I can't.
But Kerry and the media claimed the raising of the terror alert was nothing but politics.
Big ping to our British allies.
I am still trying to figure out what the headline means.
You rang?
