GOOD NEWS FILE: Orange County, CA printer refuses to print anti-Bush material

FReeper doodlelady and I have been working on a cute mocking anti-Kerry book. We are self-publishing it so I called a few printers to get the prices of printing and binding.

I called a shop in Laguna Hills, CA, which is in the Republican stronghold of Orange County. It is Spinn Print, owned by Bret and Sandy. Much of the rest of the state is lost, but Orange County is Bush Country.

I started to describe paper and cover and other ideas, and I told them it is a political book. Sandy immediately asked, "It isn't a Bush-bashing book, is it? If it is, WE WON'T PRINT IT!"

Immediately, I knew I wanted to do business with these folks. We discussed FreeRepublic and FReeping. We bashed Kerry. I told them of some of activism in which I have been involved. Sandy started lurking on FR last night.

Here is the best part. They want to see this book get out there and perhaps do a little damage to Kerry. The price they are giving me for the work is better than I could have imagined.

So here's to you, Bret and Sandy. I hope some FReepers in Southern California and beyond will bring you some business. It is good to do business with good folks.

As an aside, I've added a few more magnetic signs to my rolling campaign commercial. The sign maker next door saw my car and loved them. He offered me a great deal to make professional signs based on my homemade versions.

Have not heard from her and don’t know about Arnold cutout.

But I will tell you an Arnold story from perhaps about 8 or so years ago. Was at an auto show with press pass and part of group that showed Arnold the alternative fuel vehicles the night before it opened. We took a break in the Nissan hospitality area. While sitting at a table having coffee and desert, he calls to an assistant and starts moving some chairs so she can sit next to him.

“This is Linda, the head of my EPA in California, who gives you automakers such a hard time. She is like my own little Gestapo.” Needless to say, we were all quite astounded
