An excellent and thorough description of the mission of the Texas Air National Guard during the Viet Nam War, and a fair and informative explanation of the President's service record. Please go to the

This is a first-class post with many supplemental comments of note. A superb reference. Am going to print some copies of this. Many thanks indeed.

Thank you for the excellent post. I have a friend at work with whom I often get into political discussions at lunch, but he is (or rather was) a big-time Kerry supporter. I would often tell him about Kerry's poor conduct during his service in Vietnam, but Martin would just brush it off as the usual Conservative party line. Then he saw the Swiftboat Veterans add on TV last week and realized that what I had been telling him was true and he told me that if I could find proof that Bush had not tried to avoid going to Vietnam he would vote for him in November. Thanks to you, I have that proof in hand and will present it to Martin in the morning.

I'd like it noted that the ANG mission to patrol and protect US shores from Soviet bomber (nuclear armed) bomber groups provided F-102 a/c with the Aim 26A Nuclear Falcon missile in addition to 3 Aim 4As & 3 Aim 4Cs. This option would probably be the F-102 pilot's last and regrettably his final decision in life.
