If the scumbag wants to play that game, we need to find out where Kerry was and what he was doing on 9/11. After all, he was a long-time United States Senator on that day, and two of the hijacked planes took off from Logan Airport in his state. What has he done in Massachusetts to make sure that can never happen again?

If other FReepers don't beat me to it, as soon as I can later today, I'm going to research this. Don't have access to Lexis-Nexis, though. If any FReepers out there do, can you do a little research on where Kerry was on 9/11 and what he was doing? Also what has he done to help prevent his home state from being used as a terrorist launching pad in the future? Anyone who digs up such info, but who may not be comfortable with the task of writing, can email me the info, and I'll write an article for FR.

M2C, you're a good writer also. Maybe between you and I, we can put something together on this.

CNN

KING: Where were you on 9/11?

HEINZ KERRY: You know, it's very interesting. I landed at National Airport less than 12 hours before, coming from Pennsylvania, where I was doing a prescription drugs thing -- meeting. And I came in from Pittsburgh, landed at National, and that's the last time I landed at National for quite a while.

KING: How'd you hear about it?

HEINZ KERRY: I was at home in Washington. I had just come in and I got a call...

KERRY: I think I called.

HEINZ KERRY: And they said, look at the TV. I looked at the TV and I couldn't believe it.

KING: Where were you?

KERRY: I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation.

HEINZ KERRY: You walked out with John McCain, didn't you?

KERRY: Yes.

KING: You and what?

HEINZ KERRY: He and John walked out together.

KING: He and John McCain walked out -- what did you think?

Did you think...

(CROSSTALK)

KERRY: I knew instantaneously...

KING: Clinton said he though bin Laden.

KERRY: I knew instantaneously with the first. I'm a pilot, and I looked at the weather, and it's what we call in pilot lingo CAVU, ceiling and visibility unlimited. And I knew that that plane did not fly into that building accidentally, as people were speculating. It just doesn't happen, could not, under those circumstances. So I knew it was deliberate, whether it was suicide, whether it was something -- I couldn't tell. When the second plane hit, it was obvious to the world.

And as we went out of the building, my immediately feeling was, we're at war. I mean, that was the sense, that we are under attack. People are attacking the United States of America and we needed to respond.

"two of the hijacked planes took off from Logan Airport in his state."

Earlier threads discussed the fact that concerns about safety at Logan were brought to him. I think he bumped them to someone else. I know FReepers will jump in with the facts.

"If the scumbag wants to play that game,--"

I didn't find it posted here but I have read very favorable comments from Principal and/or teacher of the school on how under control President Bush was during this 'seven minute' period.

He was probably windsurfing, and skipping a meeting of the Sen. Intel. Committee.

I'd love to help craft a letter that could be broadcast to as many papers in the country. Letters to the editors of newspapers can easily be sent from here: http://www.georgewbush.com/GetActive/WriteNewspapers.aspx

What has he done in Massachusetts to make sure that can never happen again?

I believe that, before 9/11, someone in security at Logan had grave concerns that he couldn't get anyone at MassPort to listen to. He appealed to Kerry (and possibly Kennedy) to see if he could intervene. No response.

I'm in MA, and as far as I know he's never done anything for anyone who can't do more for him. Even his constituent services (a big part of Kennedy's popularity -- Kennedy's are excellent, I hear) are non-existent. From Kerry, you don't even get a reply, never mind help.

The President of the US on that terrible day took seven minutes to think when he heard the news.

Whatever happened that THINKING about something became a cause for criticism.

I am glad he THOUGHT FOR SEVEN MINUTES rather than leaping up without a single moment's reflection, shouting, running to a camera and pushing the nuclear button.

I wonder if he would do this differently?

God, why won't someone ask him?

I cannot remember a candidate having so many issues exposed in so short of a time. And he seems not to worry about any of them. I wonder if they have something in their back pocket which they think will overide anything and everything.

Not saying it is there mind you, but do they think they may have something?
