REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Scott Peterson appeared to cry in court Wednesday during testimony from one of his Modesto friends about the pair looking at camouflage-patterned children's clothing in a catalog in the weeks before his pregnant wife Laci disappeared.
Greg Reed testified that he and Peterson looked at a catalog that included the children's clothing sometime before Dec. 24, 2002, the day Laci Peterson was reported missing.
During that portion of Reed's testimony, Peterson wiped his eyes and face with a hankerchief and several members of the courtroom audience sitting behind him and to his right say they saw a tear roll down his cheek.........----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friend's testimony moves Scott Peterson to tears
Peterson described as being 'frantic' upon learning his wife, Laci, was missing
By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER
REDWOOD CITY -- Scott Peterson wept quietly Wednesday as one of his close friends testified about how they once flipped through the children's clothing section of a hunting-and-fishing catalogue, recalling how excited Peterson was about buying a camouflage outfit for his future son.
In 2002 Gregory Reed and Peterson seemed to lead parallel lives. Both were fathers-to-be, both had joined the Modesto Rotary Club and both belonged to the $23,000-per-member Del Rio Country Club.
Their wives had become close, often getting together to discuss their pregnancies. Scott and Laci Peterson even attended Lamaze classes hosted by Reed and his wife, Kristen.
As Reed slowly and deliberately testified in Peterson's double-murder trial about what once seemed a normal, seemingly happy life and friendship, the two men looked at each other with clear emotion. Wednesday's tears marked the first time in the 11-week-old trial that Peterson cried in the courtroom.
Reed said he received two phone calls from Peterson on the day Laci went missing. The first was a brief chat the two had as Peterson drove back from the Berkeley Marina. That was about 2:40 p.m., and Reed had called to congratulate Peterson on his new membership in the country club.
Prosecutors have characterized Peterson's actions in the days and weeks after his wife went missing as distant, unemotional and callous. But Reed described a man who sounded "frantic" upon learning his wife was missing.
In the next call on Dec. 24, the two did not talk. Peterson left a message on Reed's voicemail at 5:30 p.m. after he returned from the Bay.

SPECIAL TO THE NEWS
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The Internet was Scott Peterson's best friend.
It's where he turned to buy his girlfriend a romantic Christmas gift, where he went to sell a diamond watch his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, apparently inherited from her grandmother and even where he researched spots to dump her body, an investigator testified yesterday.
Now the Web may prove a fatal trap for Peterson, who could face the death penalty if he's convicted of killing his wife and unborn son.
Offering a detailed reconstruction of Peterson's cyberhabits in the days before he reported his wife missing on Dec. 24, 2002, prosecutors used data gleaned from five of his computers to portray him as a man refining his marital murder plot while pursuing the new object of his affections, massage therapist Amber Frey.
On Dec. 8, 2002, Peterson researched several bodies of water in northern California, looking up maps, currents, boat launch spots and information on fish and fishing licenses, said Lydell Wall, a computer expert with the Stanislaus County sheriff's office.
The next day, he secretly bought a 14-foot fishing boat with cash, according to earlier testimony.
Prosecutors contend the Web searches ........

Witness boosts theory on when woman died

Mercury News
On the day his wife, Laci, was reported missing, Scott Peterson asked a friend whether he had seen her ``today or yesterday,'' the friend testified Wednesday, boosting support for the prosecution theory that Peterson may have killed his wife the day before he told police she disappeared.
Peterson has maintained that he last saw his eight-months-pregnant wife on the morning of Dec. 24 when he left to go fishing on San Francisco Bay. When he returned that day, he told police, she was gone........

REDWOOD CITY -- Prosecutors Wednesday focused on Scott Peterson's computer activity, trying to show that online queries about boating and San Francisco Bay indicate he planned weeks in advance to murder his pregnant wife. A close friend and outdoorsman also testified that Peterson didn't mention that he had just taken his boat for its maiden voyage when the two spoke by phone on Dec. 24, 2002 -- the day Laci Peterson was reported missing.
Prosecutors contend that Peterson murdered his wife and unborn son that morning or the night before, dumped her body in the bay from a newly purchased boat and crafted a fishing story as cover. Peterson told police his wife was mopping the floor when he left that morning.
The friend, Gregory Reed, testified that Peterson left a "frantic" message on his answering machine Christmas Eve asking if he or his wife had "seen or talked to Laci today or yesterday. I can't find her."
Prosecutors could argue that Peterson hadn't gotten his alibi straight at that point, legal analysts said. Three other witnesses have testified that they heard Peterson say Christmas Eve that he went golfing earlier that day..........

TEAR DROP
It looks like the normally unemotional Scott Peterson became emotional today. One observer actually saw a tear drop roll down his cheek and down his neck.
It happened during the brief testimony of Gregory Reed. Reed and wife became good friends with Scott and Laci. They even took a Lamaze class together. Reed testified that Scott treated his wife very well and they were excited about their first baby. He also recalled a time when Scott was looking through a hunting/fishing type catalogue with camouflage children clothing featured inside. Reed said Scott couldn't wait to buy some kids clothes. At this point in court, reporters noticed that Scott grabbed a napkin and dabbed his eye. It was only for a brief moment, but it appeared Scott was teary-eyed.
His tears mean nothing. What a fake act. All along I thought he was acting on those interview when he put on the sad face. What a con artist.
Oh, I keep thinking of the word... "crocidile tears".... Yep, right on que... I think Geragos must of been telling Scotty, you are showing no EMOTIONS! Yeah, right.... Didn't do any crying when they were testifying on finding the bodies, nor autopsies... Yep, right on que scotty boy!
Scott was really crying because of what they found on his computer (the bay and tides etc) and the porn he ordered for his cable tv a couple of weeks after his wife disappeared. Wait till next week when Amber testifies and lets the phone calls loose. He'll really cry. Pre-meditated will definitely carry the death penalty. Look for a deal on the horizon. Why? Two reasons: Family running out of money. Scott's attorney knows Scott CAN be convisted on circumstantial evidence and crap is coming at them hot and heavy that can't be just blown off as "so what".
Kolbe Bryant didn't commit a crime against the nation but we hear about the progress of that mess daily.
Mr. Hacket didn't commit a crime against the nation, but his crime is daily fare.
SANDY DID COMMIT A CRIME AGAINST THE NATION AND HIS CRIME IS BARELY MENTIONED. Another Clinton appointee is allowed to walk all over rules and laws call your elected today and demand this ex-official be treated like any other American citizen, Bryant, Peterson, Hacket and be investigated on the front page of every newspaper, TV news cast and radio. Lets give him equal time for his enormous crime against the nation.
Oh yeah, Scott treated Laci really well. Dating other women and talking about being a new widower is a perfectly wonderful way to treat one's pregnant wife. (And that's not even counting killing her...)
the investigation is still going on about berger. please just ignore these posts we enjoy.
Thank you!
So he managed to squeeze out a tear.
Yeah, Scott and Hackman. Con artists can act, even producing tears.
Look, if you don't like this topic, quit clicking on it. Like it or not, some of us are interested in these topics. If you want an all Sandy Berger all the time internet forum, go create one. In fact, let me take that a step further: if there were any news on Sandy Berger's case, it would be posted on Free Republic. There isn't.
I've written letters, faxes and emails to dozens of news organizations. If you have a bone to pick about a lack of Berger news, I suggest you do the same. If you already have, do it again, instead of wasting your energy on nitpicking on threads like these. It's not OUR fault if YOU can't find the news you want on Free Republic.
We should let all men kill their pregnant wives until Sandy Berger is prosecuted!
I think all basketball, football, baseball and hockey games should STOP until Sandy Berger is indicted. All of the massive hours of airtime spent on sports should CEASE until something is done!
Go back to onto the political at large threads... for this is a criminal crime case, of penal code 187 PC....not treason! ;o)
