If it's like every other state I've studied, there's one big liberal metro area and then the rest of the state. Nothing could describe Illinois better.

"If we fight them at their level, then we ARE them."
Yes. We will magically become the dreaded THEM. Except, we'll be THEM with lower taxes, better security, and the freedoms of religion and speech, along with the right to bear arms.

"Obama is from Hawaii?"
Yes. From a magazine article:
"Obama was actually born in Hawaii. His father, also named Barack Obama, was a foreign student there. His mother, Ann, was white, and only eighteen when she married his father. She and her parents, originally from Kansas, had moved to Honolulu. When her husband left for Harvard, she and their toddler stayed behindthere was no money in his scholarship for them to go Eastand the father ultimately returned alone to Kenya, where he worked as a government economist. Baracks mothers second marriage, to an Indonesian oil manager, occasioned a move to Jakarta, when Barack was six. He lived there for four years, and in his book he writes about his time in Indonesia as simultaneously lush and a harrowing exposure to tropical povertymore harrowing, perhaps, for his mother than for the little boy who barely remembered any other life. Then Barack returned to Hawaii, where he was brought up largely by his grandparents. The family lived in a small apartmentBaracks grandfather was a furniture salesman and, later, an unsuccessful insurance agent; his grandmother worked in a bankbut Barack managed to get into Punahou School, Hawaiis top prep academy. His mother always said that he got his brains from his father, and he was raised on tales of his fathers brilliance. The great man wrote to them regularly, but, though he travelled around the world on official business for Kenya, he visited only once, when Barack was ten."

I know a LOT of Catholic blacks, who live in Chicago.I also know some who are Protestant. They won't vote for Keyes,no matter WHAT Obama's stand on abortion is.
Why would Keyes turn off whites? For many reasons;not the least because of the carpetbagger thing and his attitude/way of talking down to people. And lest you forget,Keyes was all over the cable shows, just after President Bush took office, talking him down and complaining about the president. That does still stick in some people's craws.
Who will Conservatives/GOPers in and around Chicago vote for? Some will probably vote for Keyes and others will just not pull the lever for anyone.

You ever heard him debate that big ol' arab-american who supposedly speaks for the Muslim community? He is awesome when he debates about Israel with these idiots...

Yes, Obama is from Hawaii. Spent a lot of time in New York, too. His birthday is today, too. If Obama is from Hawaii --- then what is the problem with Keyes being from Maryland?

LOL! Yeah, I just happened to see that on his website. He's using it as a marketing tool for donations. I was actually looking to see where he was born, but couldn't find it there.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Obama! :D
Isn't Keyes' birthday this week also?

Things like this are wrong when THEY do it, but perfectly fine when we do it. I'm from NY and I never once complained about Hillary being a carpetbagger. It's everthing else about her that I loath.
Even though there are things I don't like about the guy, I hope Keyes wins.

"
Obama is from Hawaii?" Born in Hawaii to a white mom and a Kenyan father, who abandoned his family when Barak was 2 years old. Obama came to Illinois to go to College and stayed.

Hi EV. I hope this finds you well.
The first answer is that the Declaration is not law, except as SCOTUS chooses to decide in animates some provision in the Constitution. In any event, when the Declaration was penned by Jefferson, he was not thinking about fetuses, indeed he wasn't thinking about anybody but White males as to most matters, and blacks as to almost no matters. As to the latter, one must assume that a fetus under the Constitution is deemed to be a person. That simply isn't "viable." Keyes should spend more time arguing the merits of what is a life, etc, and less about his hopeless and errant crusade for the application of the silver legal bullet. Not that Keyes takes any of my advice. :)

> Keyes has lost four elections, and the most he's ever gotten is 39%.
This is MD you're talking about? Not familiar with NE politics, but aren't they one of the most liberal states in the nation?

I too think Obama Barack is being set up as Hillary's running mate in 2008. It's a formidable ticket.
