I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but we were all against America's "favorite carpetbagger" up in New York not that long ago...
As much as I respect and like Dr. Keyes, I don't think this will work.
Black conservative ping

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

He referred to George W. Bush in a speech in 2001 at the Hyatt Regency, DFW Airport, as an evil man for his stem cell decision. That is a total misrepresentation.
Glad to say that the White House doesn't share your view.
They have been quite appreciative by the good Doctor's defense of this administration's foreign policy.

I said it the other day and I'll repeat it. I don't like carpetbaggers and will not donate to Alan this time.

No, I don't like Keyes. And many conservatives don't like Bush. But when the GOP picks its man, usually it's best to toss misgivings aside and work to defeat the real enemy: liberals and Democrats.
Let's bury the hatchet, overcome hurt feelings, and work for our common cause. FOR AMERICA!

Making lemonade out of lemons...
The GOP should think more about putting up candidates who are laser-sharp on issues when they finsd themselves in these long=shot situations. If nothing else, the campaign can win awareness which will help in campaigns down the road. Yes Keyes should run agains Obama, but his main criticisms should be saved for Senator Dick Durbin.

We owe Alan Keyes. This is pretty much a no-win fight, but it will be a great opportunity for our best spokesman to make our case. Thanks Alan for taking this on.Oh, you've got that right.
How else will he pay for his Armani suits and travel first class. The positive news for the Republicans in Illinois is that it can only get better after he concedes.

You're being so boringly parochial.
The defeatists here will not stop the momentum that is going to build for this candidacy from now to November 2nd.

Obama's people will throw Keyes' very own words about Hillary in 2000 back in his face.Yes, I'm sure they will, which is why I would not be surprised if Alan were to pull out after more thought, but there are the unusual circumstances in Illinois, and Alan's move (assuming he does it) is costitutional.
Therefore, I'm sure Alan will have no problem throwing the New Jersey/Torecelli (which was illegal) debacle, and Hillary right back at them to show them as the hypocrites that they are when it comes to the rules.

The GOP should think more about putting up candidates who are laser-sharp on issues when they finsd themselves in these long=shot situations. The broken Illinois GOP should think more about using these situations to develop new conservative talent in these situations.

H
e's an egomaniac, who cannot resist, in his speeches, insulting the very people he's expecting to vote for him. He talks down to people, as if he were some kind of national preacher. Sink - it is strange that I find myself in agreement with you. But, you nailed it.

My beef isn't really with Keyes. It's with the circumstances that bring him to the race. And since we both know that the state of the State is so terrible, we can be very thankful we have such an articulate and sincere conservative to build the base with.
